I'm a girl with HPV and I tell EVERY guy that I consider sleeping with that I have it and they STILL sleep with me. I've NEVER been turned down because of it.

Consider this: AT LEAST 50% (some estimates are at 75%) of all people have it, (and there's no test approved for men yet) so what makes the guy so sure he doesn't have it already anyway???

Dating Someone With Hpv

well...i have HPV since 2004 and my boyfriend of 15 months doesnt seem to mind. he hasnt had an outbreak yet though, but if he did, he will take the medications. he says that he plans on spending the rest of his life with me (no ring yet though! lol---we're 25 and 26) so if he gets some warts, then so be it.

i say....def. wait to have sex--dry hump something. because if this girl is not the one, then there is no point on getting HPV. and ask about her last outbreak. usually if you've been clear for 1-2 years, in regards to genital warts, then you most likely wont have another outbreak; your body has built a immunity to it.

now, if it's the HPV that causes cervical cancer, wear condoms and be careful because if she's not the one, then someone else will be and you run the risk of giving it to the new girl

dont mean to scare you though! lol....if you really like her GO FOR IT, but wait to have sex...and when and/or if you do, make sure your as safe as you can be and know that with HPV there is no form of protection

HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the world. The majority of the population (sexually active) is infected. There are over 100 strains of HIV and 13 high risk strains (related to cervical cancer and reported to International Agency for Research on Cancer) and a few other strains linked to skin and oropharyngeal cancers. HPV is also the cause of genital warts, though the strains that cause external genital warts are usually the low risk strains.

HPV is a slow moving virus but it's existence and prevalance shows the need for all women to get their annual (and if needed more frequent) pap smear to test for abnormal cell growth on the cervix.

Because testing for HPV is expensive and not usually covered, most people are unaware of that they have HPV. And also, most people who acquire HPV in theiradolescence/young adult life (the time when most do) clear the virus spontaneosly (greater than 80% of those who acquire HPV!!).

Eliminating women based on whether they are HPV positive or not is not going to be effective. (Most people have already been exposed). Talk to your local public health nurse for more information.

I have hpv. ive had it for about 9+ months now. I've been with my man for about 2 years....He didnt leave me when i told him or anything. He was upset and confused..but who wouldnt be. If you slept with the girl already...you probably already have it. Not to sound rude or anything. It doesnt alsways show symptoms. Mine doesnt. Plus...hpv goes away after a couple of years. So it is a COMMON std and almost everyone gets it at some point in their life. Meaning, they have it, then they dont.

well, there are two types of HPV, neither of which can be blocked by condoms:

'high risk' HPV has no symptoms in men (it can't even be tested for), and as a result, 75% of the sexually active population has it. in women, the only symptom is an abnormal pap smear. the reason its called high risk is because it has the possibility of turning into cervical cancer.

'low risk' HPV is the more widely known type of HPV which is also called 'genital warts' and exhibits symptoms in both men and women. no risk of cervical cancer though.

i'd ask her what kind she has, because the two are significantly different.

Sure--I have heard that HPV doesn't even effect men and there's not even a test for men, so it doesn't seem like it would stop me from dating anyone.

Why not look it up first. HPV is treatable most of the time. The only reason it's been on TV so much lately it because it is linked with cancer.
