Genital herpes is almost ALWAYS spread by some sort of sexual contact. It can NOT be spread by using a toilet seat after someone, using a shower or tub after them, using a chair after them, a pool, jacuzzi, door knob, etc. You need DIRECT skin to skin contact.

I have had genital herpes for over 6 years now. I lived with my parents and brothers most of those 6 years (I contracted the virus when I was 17). NONE of my family members ever got herpes from me by using something after me like the toilet or shower. I've also had several other family members and boyfriends (now ex's) use the bathroom after me and NONE of them ever contracted the virus. It's just not spread that way.

Good luck!

Only if she has an open, oooozing, herpes sore,- touches it- then touches you on an open part of your skin. If she touches a door knob with a hand that she used to touch her sores [which is very unlikley because people who get the herpes outbreaks are in so much pain that they take the medicine to make the sores go away as soon as they can which takes a few days] and then u touched it and touched your genitals. Then ya something could happen. But very unlikley.

no....you really need to educate yourself on STDs. STDs are SEXUALLY Transmitted Dieases. Meaning you contract them from sexual activity. You can't catch genital herpes from causual contact. Your friend need your support not your fear.
