Thanks for all your answers, there are so many different ways to show people that you appreciate them, so I won't choose a best answer. Also makes me realize how selfless parents are, giving so much and not expecting more than a smile in return.

In my case, I know I havent been really appreciative of my parents and people around me. But its best that you acknowledge them and let them know that you are thankful for everything. Now, on the kids tip, my little's are 21 months and 6 months old. I am very thankful to have them in my life. They give me courage and hope that everything is going to be ok. Also, plan a nice dinner and a event. That will be cool!!!

This is a great question. That you're asking it says something great about the job your parents have done in raising you!
I show my parents that I appreciate them by telling them so. When I'm faced with difficult decisions, I ask for their advice and I think that lets them know that I appreciate them.
When my son thanks me for things instead of just expecting "mom will do it" I feel appreciated. But even more than that, I feel appreciated when he shows me by his words and actions that he has learned the lessons his father and I have tried to teach him.

I think I give my parents a lot of respect, and I always tell them I love them and appreciate them.
My kids are all small, but their hugs and kisses, plus the way they come running to me when I come home says it all.

Now that I am grown, I try to do things to make life easier for my mom. Whether it's picking up her groceries or picking up her house or buying her something that she would consider frivilous, I try to do things to make her feel loved, appreciated and special.
My kids are still small and just a smile or a hug from them is enough for me to live on for days.

Spend time with them. Nowadays, everyone is so rushed, running everywhere, looking at their watch.
Show them that time is not important when you're with them. Time stands still.
All my child has to do is look at me and smile. It means everything in the world to me.

well when i want to show my parents i appreciate them, i think one of the best ways is SAYING IT. but gift-wise, i get them something that they've eyed before in a store or something

Simple! Tell them! My children tell me all the time how much they appreciate what I do!

Buy them a gift. If your children appreciate you, they'll be nice to you and sometimes even tell you that they like you.
