Death is the fate of all creations! (No exception)
Wage of sin is a religious belief / faith based on false inspirations of the dominant authorities who nailed The Law & Commandments on the Cross!
Untill OT is attached with NT the Christianity cannot get rid of such confusions.
According to OT Son / doughter cannot be punished for father's sins and father cnnaot be punished for the sins of this children.
Such contradictions lead to confusions and the poor believers are left with no option but to reject the whole faith including the authority of the Almighty God - The Lord of universe. That is why you ask; If God is perfect?
According to the main sources Adam and Eve were punished and forgiven by the God - they did not put to death! Since than man is suffering with hard labour and woman is suffering with the birth-labour!
Is this punishment not sufficient??
Wage of sin was promoted through stack of fire and incusition trial by the blood thursty officers of church in the dark ages when christian world has a little interaction with other faiths.
Flora and fauna have their own fate for life & death as planned by God.
It is the mankind who is chosen the best creation and awarded with knowledge, wisdom and spiritual guidance to save his soul for an Eternal life!!
Therefore he / she are put to test & trial to qualify for Eternal Life in the Kingdom of God.

God, if he exists, is perfect if he doesn't exist creation is questionable but still the universe is perfect because there is, to our knowledge, no other like it. Jeff is right death is evidence of either the perfection of God or the universe for with out death there could be no life. Everything would live "forever?" and, if there were still reproduction and birth, wall to wall plants, insects, animals and people.
That is why I don't believe God created a heaven where people live forever because such a life would be impossible if it were anything like we know it here or else so different it would be undefinable as life.
Why is it considered stupidity or sacriledge to say about GOD, "I don't know" because in reality neither the most faith filled believer nor the most doubting atheist really KNOWS!

Interesting question. I think God is showing us that He is very serious about sin and that the punishment for sin is not just limited to humans. In the Old Testament (Leviticus 16) God used a goat to pay with death for the sins of the people. He used a second goat as a scapegoat to take our sins to be sent away from us. This process of taking away our sins has been perfected in the New Testamant by Jesus dieing for us and taking away our sins forever. By being resurrected, He showed that He has defeated death. Because God came to earth as a man, men can also defeat death now! Ofcourse these poor animals were not guilty and did not deserve to die and they didn't understand it.
The reason why He killed the goats was because He just loved us to much. Because God is also strict He had to punish us, but because of the love He has for us, He used goats.
Now, you probably wonder, If Jesus took away all sins and overcame death, why must the animals still die today? Unfortunately sin and the wages of sin will ALWAYS be here on earth and will not just disappear.. God is perfect because He managed to provide us a permanent Path to Him out of this sinful mess we got ourselfs into. Unfortunately we still need to die physically, but through Jesus we have eternal life.
It is not an easy question to answer, but I hope you understand what I mean.

God did not want us all to live forever!!! Man dying isn't a failure, it's how it's supposed to be. Imagine a world where no one died. Population: infinity. Zillions of people who are over the age of 2,000. Would THAT have made any sense?
Ask yourself this, why does everything that man create fail, while nothing God created does? Computers, cars, TVs, air conditioners, whatever man creates will break down. But does the sun fail to come up and go back down every single day? No. Does the earth stall or ever quit rotating perfectly on its axis? No.

i would approach it from a different angle -
i do not believe that death is a punishment at all.... it is just another stage we go through.... so man dying because of "original sin" does not make sense....
everything is finite - except god - we are his creation - as are the flora and fauna - so we submit to his rules. Death is merely the passing onto the next stage of our existence.

Because, if there is a god and he did, in fact, create the earth, then he also created the mechanisms that allow life to flourish on earth, free from direction and intervention (Such as DNA, evolution, natural molecular organization, the laws of physics and thermodynamics, etc.). You christians could think of it as God's little science experiment. But then again, that might leave you feeling a little uncomfortable when you realize that humans are just one tiny part of the experiment, and possibly the first major disaster to come of it.

If you read Genesis then you will see that God no only cursed Adam and eve, but the ground also. He cursed the EARTH not just Adam and Eve, thats why everything dies... before that everything was perfect =). Hope that helps a little bit..
God Bless

Cannot death be a part of a perfect existence? Of course, the issue I have here is not with death making for an imperfect world, but with attributing creation to a mythical creature. There being no god, there can be no sin. All that is left is nature, and the human definition of perfect is not nature's definition, clearly (not wanting to anthropomorhise nature, but you may get my gist).

Before the fall there was no blood shed in the animal kingdom. It was only after the fall that animals died. The fall of Adam not only effected himself, but also the entire creation.
Romans 5
12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

In order for all that is to experience the joy of creation and to know that while we may change forms and bodies, we live on forever.
Mainly, death is a blessing. Think of it as rebooting your computer after you have downloaded too much software and its just too slow and buggy.
Love is the Law, Love under Will.
