Speed dating is a formalized matchmaking process or dating system (a variant of a meeting system where the purpose is to enjoy romantic or friendship dates rather than decide anything). It originated in Jewish circles in the United States as a way to ensure that more Jewish singles met each other in large cities where they were outnumbered by non-Jews. It has been made more popular by its use on dating game shows, e.g. Fifth Wheel, and has recently become popular in the gay community. ...

They have a speed dateing service here and they way I understand, all the people meet at this one place. you are all paired off and given something like 7 minutes to talk. A buzzer will go off and (lets say the men) will switch tables. You then have 7 minutes to talk to that person.I guess the people kinda keep notes or something. This way you get to meet and talk to everyone in the room. You then mark down which one(s) you might like to get to know better. If they have you marked also, then you are once again introduced so you can have a better chance of getting together. From there on, I'm not real sure but hope this helps.

It got nothing to do with boy meeting girl or vice versa. As a matter of fact this is the process of cultivating date crop when it is ready. Underneath the bunch of dates on top of the trees making a small cut and place a container at sunset and in morning taking away before sunrise. In old days this was the process of collecting which was serving as a delicious wine. If leaving it after sunrise it would get conteminated. You had to cut these dates to save from insets, ants, flies birds; the process usually called SPEED DATING means, leaving this crop too long to be hanging on, hence giving time to be riped in baskets rather than being eaten away otherwise.

I believe speed dating refers to any relationship one has with the opposite sex that can last up to and including 3 to 5 minutes by any 2 people over the age of say 60 and older . Anything over 6 min. is considered fairly impossible or at least risky .Yanowatimean ?

Speed dating is the new dating for the 2000's. It is at a venue, you go in, put a name tag on and rotate from table to table. There is a different guy or girl at each table. You get 2-5 minutes before they ring a bell and you move on to the next person. In that short time, you are to decide if you have any connection or sparks with any of the people you meet. If you do you either exchange numbers with them on the spot or you write their name and table number on a card, along with your name and number and wait to hear from them. I guess it helps cut thru the crap. At a club, it might take you a while to work up the guts to go up to chat to someone only to find out they are attatched or a jerk. Hope I helped clarify

The amount of speed you take before and while going out on the date. The more you take the "faster" the speed date. These can get expensive and can result in a heart attack. But at the same time you will have super energy.

Speed dating is when a group of people, men and women, meet as an establishment that will allow a specific amount of time for you to talk to the person.
Usually, the women stay at a table and the men will move from table to table every time a timer goes off.
If you don't get 'that connection' in the short amount of time, the airs switch.
This is done somewhat like a game, sit down, try to get the other to want you, if you fail, try again with next person.

You meet with a lot of people you have personal sessions for a few minutes and move on to the next person. If any two people like each other they exchange numbers

there's a lot of different meanings to the term 'speed dating' but what i've mostly referred to as speed dating is when a group of boys and girls (or whatever) go to a club or a special place for speed dating. and they take turns all meeting with each other and seeing who they get along with. kind of like multiple, short blind dates.

Speed dating is a is a formalized matchmaking process or dating system whose purpose is to encourage people to meet a large number of new people. Its origins are credited to Rabbi Yaacov Deyo of Aish HaTorah, originally as a way to help Jewish singles meet and marry.[1][2][3] "SpeedDating", as a single word, is a registered trademark of Aish HaTorah. "Speed dating", as two separate words, is often used as a generic term for similar events.
The first speed-dating event took place at Pete’s Café in Beverly Hills in late 1998.[1] Soon afterward, several commercial services began offering secular round-robin dating events across the United States. By 2000, speed dating had really taken off, perhaps boosted by its portrayal in shows such as Sex and the City as something that glamorous people did. Supporters argue that speed dating saves time, as most people decide if they are romantically compatible very quickly, and first impressions are often permanent.
