I work for a chicken joint (I won't disclose the name here) and I see many violations. The workers rarely ever wear hairnets. The cooks and managers throw empty cardboard boxes that are flattened on the floor. A lot of us employees trip over those boxes and sometimes with hot things in our hands such as biscuit trays or greasy food from the fryer. Any injuries reported to the boss are NEVER reported further or checked on after they are initially reported. We have teenagers who work after 11pm and often times they work a full-time schedule. Even when school was still in session. Please help... I don't want to lose my job, but I don't like what I see either!

Just thought I'd add this...
Looking for another job may sound simple enough but it took me a year to find a job that pays minimum wage and works me just under full-time. I can't just quit and find a dif job! I am trying to contact coporate offices, but I can't seem to find a way to contact them except through their website.

If this is a franchise type business, report the violations to the head office (like KFC, POPEYE'S, CHESTERS, etc.) That should get the ball rolling.

When you make the report, tell them that if the conditions do not change immediately you will be forced to file official reports with: the Labor Department, the Health Department, and that you will also clue in the local media news stations so that they might some some of their own investigating.

You should get some action, and I'd say fast. I would keep copies of everything you have done, as if they trace it to you, you might also have a law suit if they fire you.

First off, call your corperate hedquarters. Most of the time these people are not aware of the violations as long as no one complains and the money is coming in as it should. Also call the state health department and report the violations. Going straight to the state instead of the local branch things tend to get expedited a lot quicker. Also, contact your state labor board about the other violations. There shoul be a number for that posted in the establishment. All of these things can be reported anonymously . If you happen to get fired for reporting these violations, gat a lawyer. You will never have to work again if this happens. Be careful though. If the managers get wind of the fact that you may be reporting them, they will come up with some lame excuse for getting you out of there. You may want to find another job as back up just in case they try to do this.

If you work for a restaurant, there may be regulation by the city or the state health department. Open your telephone book, and begin with the city or town. Look for an office of health or code inspections. If there is no number for that, call your municipal government on the general telephone line and tell them you want to make a report to the office that handles restaurant inspections.

If there is no city or town office, repeat the process with the state government.

As a last resort, contact your state legislator's office. They will follow up on it for you.

OSHA and the Health Department and whoever is in charge of Child/ Labor Laws in your state.

I would never work for a place like that.

I would look for another job. They obviously don't care about their employees or the Labor Laws or OSHA standards.
