not all spider bites require a trip to the emergency room.
if you were able to catch the spider and it resembles that of a poisonous spider then take it w/you to the emergency room. the most posionous ones are a brown recluse and a black widow. i'll post links for pictures of both.
report to the er if
-you think or know the spider was posionous
-the bite is begin to swell rapidly
-the bite has increased redness or is severely painful, tender,or hot to touch
-you begin to feel lightheaded, dizzy, sweaty,or nauseated
if the bite doesn't seem to be reacting much-wash it well with warm water and soap. apply some benadryl or hydrocortisone cream to help relieve swelling and itch
hope this helps

If you can catch the spider that would help determine if the bite is dangerous.
I suggest ice on the bite area and keep it immobile and elevated until you get to the emergency room. Spiders don't have much venom but it can be very potent, depending on the type spider.
It may not be any worse than a bee sting, but it's best to let the experts determine that.

Find the spider or at least try to remember what it looked like. If it wasn't a Brown Recluse or a Black Widow you will be fines aside from an itchy red bump.
