MY girlfriend is non-religious, but here culture is uses Shaman. Ghosts play a big role in their beliefes. Their dream interpretation skills are vast and accurate. I just want some other people's point of views on what happened.
My girlfriend is at college in her own appartment. Her bedroom door is closed each night before she sleeps. One night she woke up to somebody standing in her doorway. They rushed up to the side of her bed and stood over her face staring at her. She closed her eyes and begged for her dad (who was assassinated when she was only 6 months old) to help her. She waited and it was gone. I know some people will think she just couldnt see the difference between reality and dream for a second, but somehow the lights were on when she woke up to the person in her room. She is tough and she called me crying. The shaman did what he had to after asking some things about me that she had told nobody. Anybody say anything.

To see the ghost of a living relative or friend in your dream, signifies that you are in danger of malice acts by that person.
To see the ghost of a dead friend/relative in your dream, suggests guilt and regrets concerning the past relationships with that particular person.

Well, it's not uncommon for people to report being awake, and seeing an actual ghost. Her father may be watching over her, and actually coming to help when she calls him, or she may have built a thought form, which is represented by her father, which is a form built of energy that she can use to protect herself, and gave it the shape of her father as someone she trusts to protect her. If she says that she saw a ghost, in this situation, I believe her. Might not hurt to get someone to come to the apartment to cleanse and bless it.....
