well First of all If you decied to eat somewhere cheap, make it in-n-out its only in california for the most part but it is the best burger place out here. Now venice beach would be good to see. City walk as well. Hollywood walk of fame of course. The best place for fireworks would be the hollywood bowl if you can get tickets or dodger stadium. Other wise any one of many beaches on the coast have fireworks. Just drive to the ocean and follow the fire works. hope this helps.

Beverly Hills is also only a few blocks from West Hollywood. Hollywood is really a tourist area, kinda like International Drive in Orlando. Tons or knick knack shops, Tattoo parlors and lingerie shops. Capitol records building and the Hollywood sign are good photo ops. Hollywood and Vine is as well. Bunch of clubs and places to eat. Rodeo Drive is ok if you have the quid to actually buy something but the people and car watching is pretty good, as you will see a little of everything from a 1981 Volkswagen Sirocco to various $200,000 Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Bentley's and Benz's. Plenty of hookers in Hollywood if your out late. You can honestly cover Hollywood in about an hour as far as tourist places go. To get a great picture of the Hollywood sign however take North Beachwood to Ledgewood, follow Ledgewood all the way up (narrow and very curvy) take a right on Mulholland Hwy and the sign will be dead in front of you. There will be a sign that says "no access to the Hollywood sign" this just means you cant actually get to it but you can get great pictures.

Well my first question would be how old are you and what are you interest.

Secondly I would say start searching for things you enjoy online . 10best.com is a good website if you are into the best of the best clubs, restaurants, nightlife.

4th of july in Los Angeles can consist of a visit to the beach or other places that have great firework displays . also something to google.

Los Angeles is a huge place endless possibilities, and its really up to you to make the most of the days your there.

If you want to know good simple eating places, and must haves let me know :D

also where are you coming from ?

You didn't mention what you like to do. You have a lot to choose from in L.A., and different things appeal to different people. Amusement parks (Disneyland, Universal, Knott's), spectator sports (Dodgers, Angels, Lakers), the beaches (Malibu, Redondo, Newport), restaurants (Spago, The Ivy, Mr. Chow), studio tours (Warner Bros, Paramount, Sony), TV tapings (sitcoms & talk shows), movie premieres, theatres (Grauman's Chinese, El Capitan, the ArcLight), Broadway shows (Wicked, Jersey Boys), concerts (the Gibson Amphitheatre, the Greek Theatre), classical concerts (the Hollywood Bowl, Disney Hall), clubs (HoB, the Viper Room, the Sunset Strip), shopping (Rodeo Drive, The Grove, Beverly Center, CityWalk), art museums (The Getty Center, the Getty Villa, LACMA, the Huntington), science museums (The L.A. Observatory, Exposition Park) gardens (Descanso, the Arboretum, the Huntington again), hiking (Griffith Park), historical spot like (Olvera Street, Mission San Juan Capistrano)... not to mention Catalina Island.

In Hollywood, try to catch one of the Walk of Fame ceremonies or a movie premiere to see stars in person. Try this calendar of events: http://www.seeing-stars.com/Calendar
