This is why I accuse atheists of being dumb from time to time. I posted some brief criticisms of what I regard to be bad atheist arguments and I get mistaken for being religious or sympathetic to religion.

Just because I'm an atheist doesn't mean I have to agree with every opinion that other atheists have. I think it's important for atheists to honestly critique one another, because in the long run it will help to dispel weak arguments.

I hope you don't mind an answer from a Christian. the problem is in both groups. Too many fast little jabs and snide remarks and not enough thoughtful answers. There is a biblical saying Iron sharpens iron. If one is goingto be able toreadily defend one's position or even really know what one's position is one needs to have serious discussion and argument. One of my best friends is a jewish agnostic who has a very liberal political view We argue many things But we don't fight we discuss our differig views and therefore not only can defend our own but understand the other's better.

Dear Robert,

i think the wisest course might just be to state your questions and criticisms without labelling them to a specific group.

Personally i've seen good and bad arguments by atheists, christians, etc. on this web-site. i think you will find that in any group of people you will find people who misrepresent the views of a group (i can't tell you how many people on this website answer questions about Jesus or the Bible and totally misrepresent, and i'm sure the same can be said for Atheism and other beliefs.

This is a wonderful forum where people can express their beliefs, opinions, convictions, and hopefully be challenged and learn from each other.

Kindly,

Nickster

We are all religious whether be believe in one god or another or not. We essentially all believe in ourselves and our immediate environment. Questions like this are and will never be easy or taken well. Myself, I think that choosing to be part and participate in a structured or non structured belief system, or choosing not to; are both very personal and intimate decisions and that choice belongs to no one else but the self involving. I was told by my mother early on when I was about 10 or 11 when I started my curiosity in this realm, " read as many books as you need to gain the knowledge and information you need to make your own decision about your own faith if you choose to participate in one or any. Religion is a very personal choice so you have no right to question or patronize anyone's belief just as they have no right to question you as long as you are informed and have made an educated decision."

I agree. In fact just recently I was slammed for correcting some atheist's inaccurate claims about evolution (the idea that theism and accepting evolution have to be mutually exclusive).

so, you post some critiques, ask a few questions, and get attacked for not adhering to, and questioning the dogma, huh? almost as if it's some kind of religion...curious...just wondering when they'll excommunicate you?

What you say makes little sense. You are pretending to be Atheist and acting stupid, to make us look bad. Stop asking the same thing over and over again. It didn't make sense the first time.

Yes. You're being unclear. Maybe it's not the other people who are dumb.

Otta consider that.

your questions and answers say you aren't atheist. Why do you lie? do you really think it will get you any points with your church?
