I am afraid that no one can answer this question but God Himself. If God told us all the answers, why would we need faith? We will know all the answers to the tough questions, someday, when God reveals Himself, His very essence to all believers. That day has not yet come and it will only come when we are in heaven with our Holy Savior. God chose not to "Prove" Himself to us, anymore than He already has. The rest we accept by faith.
God Bless You....Peace.

I have found my answer in the eastern relligions. They say that god is actually a dragon - a chaotic being. He has created everything, including several lesser gods. The purpose of those gods is to bring order to the world, and while they do their job,the dragon is sleeping. But some day, the dragon shall awake.
This will be the day of judgement.
The picture of a dragon, and several lesser gods I think of as a metaphore.
Perhaps in the begining there really was chaos. As time went by,there came to be order. And order was stronger than chaos. So order has prevailed. Now,in the advancement of this order, there are still traces of chaos, there are still errors in judgement. Perhaps, god which we know was here for far too long that nobody has the knowledge of him, while he was a chaotic being. However ,now he is mercifull, compashionate, just.
I find that everything has to progress, therefore even god has a begining. Even he ascended from chaos. He was created by chaos.

If there was a creator of creators I guess we'd never know (since we would be so far below). But if the creator has a creator, then surely that creator must have a creator ..
Thinking that the creator must be created himself by a creator also makes for mind-blowing difficulties .. you'd have to have an infinite chain of creators, and an infinite number of creations. (My mind hurts.)
God does say in the bible that He is in fact the only God.
Even if it were true, which I don't think it is because God seems to be keen on honesty, integrity etc, it would be beyond our ability to know.
Medievalists used to spend time philosophizing on issues such as how many angels can stand on a pin-head. It seems a logical issue of that variety (not related to our real life). Interesting as something to think about I suppose, even quite a stimulating discussion point, although somewhat disengaged from the real issues of life and how men and God practically relate.
We can very definitely know the God who has declared Himself to be the one and only God. As christians we believe that Jesus' sacrifice provides a way to come into God's presence, totally forgiven by God's grace. God can be absolutely staggeringly good, so He is worth getting to know.

God did not create itself, per se.
God is not a was or will be, God is. In layman's terms, just like a piece of paper contains every word you could ever write on it, would ever write on it, will ever write on it, but haven't written yet, God existed/exists forever first in possibility before 'materializing.' That is why the 'word' was the beginning.
Out of the darkness/ignorance came knowledge, out of possibility came reality. Just as a glass of water cannot know what it is truly like to be part of the ocean, and the ocean cannot know what it is truly like to be before it is an ocean, seperate from sky and air and flesh, so too can the individual mind conscious of its individual self not understand what it means to be as yet created, and creation as yet understood and spoken.
God knows where God came from but only the collected God has that answer.

Dear Lindsay,
As a Christian God speaks to us through His Word, people, and through the Holy Spirit.
First we must understand that the Bible doesn't answer every single one of our questions. It reveals to us what God wants us to know about Him to have a close walk with Him.
We are told that God's thoughts and ways are not our ways, and that his ways are beyond our understanding. The Bible doesn't teach us who or how God was created? In fact the Bible teaches that he wasn't created, that He always was.
i think that being said- everyone's answer to this question is just speculation.
i just attended a Bible Study tonight where we studied Ecclesiastes (it's one of the wisdom books along with Proverbs) and one of the things Solomon said in Chapter 8 was basically that there is a limitaiton to knowledge and there are times when we can't figure everything out in life. i think this is one of those things that God does not reveal to us for a reason.
i think the answer is that only God knows. It's not a cop-out answer- but it is according to God's word.
Hope that helps. Kindly,
Nickster

If you are going to consider the Bible it is stated there that God was from everlasting to everlasting. To tell you honestly, you shouln't ask such question in order to believe that there really is God. You see, that's the difference between you as human and Him as God (Isaiah 55 As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.)
I would suggest that you try to look inside and outside your own being to believe that there really is God. How can you practically understand Him if you do not understand your own. Or how can you measure the infinite if you are finite.

God is the CREATOR of the Universe.
He's not created.
He IS THE CREATOR.
Let's read a verse from the bible.
Acts 17:24
"The God that made the world and all things therein, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;"

God was not created, he has always existed. There was never a time that God did not exist and there will never come a time that God ceases to exist. God is infinite - that is why he is called the "alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end"

I noticed a man run around the floor of a pool stuffed with a non-Newtonian fluid accordingly God is truly, and likewise the soul is an invisible organ within the human frame that's teleported to one in every of 2 parallel universes, both heaven or hell after we die.

Hi, there are questions that may well have no perfect answer and yours is one of them. For me, it doesn't matter, i believe and i have experienced the mystery and power of an Almighty Being or a Higher Power in my life, and that is all that matters to me.
There are many people and institutions who believe in God. The US Gov't says in their money, "in God we trust", the Jaycee International tenet says, "we believe that faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life", Alcoholics Anonymous in the 2nd step of its 12 step program of recovery says,"We believe that a power greater than myelf can restore me to sanity".
Like them, i, too, believe and have faith in God. That is all that matters to me, i need no further explanation. I hope you will, also. God bless, Andretti.
