When you add up the generations of the Bible, you come to 5758 years.

Most estimates based on a literal interpretation of the Bible, and in particular the belief that the Hebrew word : "yom" in Genesis refers to a 24 hour day, cluster around 6,000 years : 2,000 years for both the age of the Earth and of the rest of the universe. These estimates are promoted by young-Earth creationists. In 1738, De Vignoles stated that he had accumulated no fewer than 200 computations of the date of creation, all based upon various diverse interpretations of the Bible. Most conservative groups within Christianity still follow the estimate of Dr. John Lightfoot, a 17th century Anglican who estimated that creation occurred during 4004 BCE.

The universe is not 6,000 years old. The universe was created last Thursday by the Invisible Pink Unicorn.

All of our memories of a life before last Thursday were implanted by the Invisible Pink Unicorn in order to test our faith.

Silly atheist, don't you know that's what the firmament is for. There are no objects that far away.

1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

1:15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

1:17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

PS: I'm not a Christian, and I did not mean to give that impression.

Only millions? Try billions of light years away.

Easy. The earth is not 6,000 years old. Try over 4 billion years, created from cosmic dust and created from the products of a dead star (Many elements in our bodies were made from star fusion: We are star dust).

Science is cool.

Young Earth creationism is a religious doctrine that teaches that the Earth and life on Earth were created by a direct action of God relatively recently (about 6,000 years ago).

Simple. God made it look that way to test your faith. If you use logic and reason, you're going to hell.

That's straight from the Book of Bush.
