Genesis 1:1 says, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." I've always taken the "heavens" in this verse to mean...everything we see in the sky, or all of outer space because it's plural rather than singular. That still doesn't answer the question of where He was though. As far as I know the Bible does not mention it. My best guess is that He is the same place he is today: Heaven, everywhere, all around us. I don't think God is a physical being that is in a place like we are. Like, right now I'm sitting at my computer. That's where I am. Where is God right now? Heaven, everywhere, all around us. That's how I see it anyway. Just my feeling.

Genesis says He created the Heavens and earth. There is earth where we live physically, then there are levels of Heaven or different Heavens (according to who you ask in Christianity). One Heaven in the atmosphere around the planet, then another Heaven is the immediate space outside our atmosphere and another Heaven is the other solar systems or galaxies in the universe. We don't know for sure how many levels or how many Heavens God created. God doesn't need Heaven to live in or to exist. He just is. He is love. He is power. An almighty spirit. The Holy Trinity. He just is God. He told Moses that He is I AM. So God is everywhere at all times. He is ineffable.

God did not create just heaven and earth, He created hell too!
God lives in heaven... 'cause, he is scared o Man on earth and pain in hell.... This is because Man has created God to dump the burden of His own mistakes on this entity called GOD...
Jokes apart... Prior to the creation of all these, where the God was?....
Let me Tell the truth about God As I have understood it...
Initially, there was just pure existence and pure consciousness unconnected with each other. As the consciousness and existence got connected, there was an explosion. this was a big Bang.
Then Universe started getting created. This had various levels. As far as goodness qualities are concerned, there were three levels... Very Good=Heaven, Moderately Good=Earth, No Good= Hell... Also, we find three levels of existence as per Advaita Vedanta... Adhi Devik=Divine(Where all the beings[like Gods] that control the lower Realities live), Adhi Bhautik=Earthly(Where all of us live) and Pratibhasik=Imaginary(where all our self created beings live).
The GOD as considered by some religions as the only supreme entity is actually the PARAMATMAN that is the Pure consciousness that lies above all this and is the root of all creation with its union with the Prakriti The Pure Existence.
I am from INDIA.
I am a pursuer of Philosophy and Meta Physics.
By birth, I am Hindu, But I respect all religions equally.

Good question for phylisophical debate . . of course no one knows the answer, but I'll throw in my 2 cents.
1. One factor is he is not just in Heaven. The Holy Spirit is everywhere. Though the Holy Spirit did not come to presence until Jesus went to Heaven, it shows God's omni-presence. So, He may have been the only thing in existence and then created a place for us and a place for Him. (i.e. Earth & Heaven)
2. It does not say that are no other places. God could have been somewhere else and moved to Heaven.

Actually the verse says "the heavens" and is referring to the stars in the sky. There are actually three "places" translated as heaven/heavens in the bible - 1) is God's throne room 2) Is the stars in the sky (the universe) and 3) is the sky immediately above us with clouds and rain and such.
God is also not a spatial entity - he does not exist in time or space unless he chooses to do so, so technically heaven isn't a physical place but a state of being in the "presence" of God.

We find evidence for strange things every day. The universe has billions of stars, planets, and galaxies. But there is no evidence for a god, much less a god that can be found in a physical afterlife, as in the myths.
The universe will no doubt seem stranger as science continues to study it. But none of the facts support an invisible, bearded man who judges the human species from a cloud. I suggest that it does not likely exist.
Note how I did not try to feed you emotional platitudes that attempt to explain gods but remain inconsistent with different accounts.

Just because we have no coprehension of certain things does not prove or disprove anything. And there are many things that are beyond our comprehension. You are a creation of God, whether you believe it or not. It is none of your business to be asking such a question about the creator. This knowledge was not given to us nor will it ever be on this earth.

God doesnt need to step on a place.God is placed to place
byself. You Christians think Jesus is God.Thatswhy you are asking that funny questions.God doesnt live in heaven or in sky anywhere.İn our very huge universe nobody can see God.
Do you think a king will come out from his palasthouse to visit a poorman. So God doesnt come to show Himself. You must go to Him.Out of our universe is much more huge galaxy there is.Angels are stationed there. There are angels stationed on duty in our universe also but in that galaxi there are much much more.Even in that galaxy God doesnt stand
but God is everywhere.Even in my heart.

I'm a Heathen. G-d (the indescribable great mystery) is the source of being, the perfect state of being. It seems like a very Taoist perspective but even YHWY is literally translated as "is/was/will be."
Rabbi Arthur Green describes it as "a verb artificially resting in motion and acting as a noun."
So to say "He" "did" anything would be fallacious as G-d simple IS and always has been as source of BEING.
G-d is a verb!

My friend, no man can answer this question. The only one who knew, we killed and He returned to the Father.
Even if He did tell us, do you think anyone would believe? Anything us humans cannot understand, we kill.
My personal opinion, I dont care. I have been given my mission and I must complete it before I leave this world because that is enough to worry about on its own.
Your free and can post such questions all you like, doesnt matter who answers because your mind is already made up and all your looking for is agreement.
God bless you brother, from the Christian Missionary.
