ABSOLUTELY too young. No question. I was engaged at 18, and I am SO happy we did not go through with it. We waited until I was 21...and at that point I had grown and matured, and realized this was not what I wanted for the rest of my life. If we had married, I would have been divorced by 22

Well...being engaged at that age is not too young but being married is. Wait until you guys are 25 years old and then get married because that the average age when people are sure of themselves and they got their live long goals straighten out. Then you will also know if she/he is right for you.
Note: Most people who experience college change in a good way...that's one of the reason why you should wait til you are 25 but if you know what you want and you are sure of it than go for it...nobody can stop yo from doing things you don't want to.
Oh yea researcher has shown that people who married before the age 25 are more likely to get divorce.

It really all depends on how committed you are to eachother. I got married at 18 and no one thought it would last. Now it's 2 years later and we're buying a house. A young marriage is much more than gushy feelings of emotion, desire, and lust; it requires complete commitment and an understanding that the both of you WILL change quite a bit in the next few years. Be prepared to roll with the punches.

I got married at 18, two months shy of 19. We've been married 4 years and its been great.
A word to the wise. Make sure you have your financial ducks in a row. Discuss finances before you get to the altar. Use common sense. This has helped tremendously in our marriage.
God bless you.
May you grow in love together, using wisdom.

I don't think that any of these people need to tell you what you should be doing. I'm 21 and i'll be 22 by time I'm married and people tell me that I'm too young to be engaged!! They don't know what they are talking about. If you feel like u r ready then go for it. And if you want to prove it to the world then get on MTV's engaged and underage.

No, it's not too young to be engaged, but don't get married for a few more years. You're really missing out on the fun of dating though.

If you two are truly in love and you have absolutely no doubts, then go forward with it. I really don't think there is such a thing as being too young to be engaged within reason of course. It really depends on the couple. I've seen it work and I've seen it failed. As with most other things in life, it depends on how bad you want to make this work.

I think that is WAY too young.
I am your age - i can't IMAGINE getting married for at least another 5 years or so.
Enjoy your teens/twenteens without being tied down...
Have fun.
But i suppose with getting engaged - you don't have to get married for along time.
So....if you are really meant to be together forever. You can wait a while to get married.........

It depends on the people - some are never too young. My cousins got married when they were 16 and are still together and very happy, they're now 65.
