I assure you that "chubby and all" is a turnoff. As far as "smart and confident," guys care about as much for that as the heartbreak of psoriasis.

Judgebill below has given you a flowery, PC answer. I have given you more of a blunt one.

Sounds like you have a nice personality and you know yourself.
You are confidence and know your positive qualities. Being chubby is not a problem. There are lot of people who are chubby yet very attractive. I would suggest that don't rush in to anything. Take your time and you will get our chance as well.

Joe C's got a point. ... and that's the tough reality of your situation.

The whole "love yourself" thing is said a bit too often, BUT I will say this:

NEVER base your self worth based on what another person thinks of you.

Now... back to life: No disrespect but in this narcissistic, model-size society, the weight issue is one of the primary factors that affect potential courtship for both women and men.

Try changing your diet, and consider shedding some pounds.

Learn to love yourself. If you can't love yourself, how can you expect others to love you? So love yourself, accept yourself as you are, without judgment. If you can accept yourself then you will find others accepting you as well. If you love yourself, others will love you.
