I would maybe consult her best friend who goes to get waxed. Just explain to her how your gf is a little matured in hair growth and take her to get her upper lip waxed. The friend will probably be helpful since they're friends. Then, have the friend take your gf whenever she goes or just consult with her again when she gets prickly.

I had that problem once - i told him i would (sorry, no words to not have explicit language) do something more if he would be shaved and guess what - next time he was clean shaved.
