"Duh"

That person was really a moron. What an awful thing to say!!! I would have said to him or her: "oh, do you think so? that is not what most people say."

It is better to give an answer to make your sister feel good rather than try to teach the rude person manners by making a big deal out of it.

When my father died, my aunt came for the funeral. My sister called over to my mom's house and my aunt answered. She then told my mother, "your daughter called." Mom said, "which one?" My witch of an aunt said, "the pretty one." I wasn't there of course but a friend of mine was. That was pretty rude of Auntie Dearest.

I would say," I disagree, I think we are both pretty in our own different ways."

Depending on the situation, I might just smile and say nothing until after. Then I would see my sister privately and tell her that I think the person was rude and didn't know what they were talking about!

Is this person 12 years old?

That would be the only excusable reason for this sort of back handed comment.

Its not a compliment.

I would say "you have no manners, what born in a sewer?"

Maybe something nice about your sister - like "I consider that quite a compliment, because my sister is so beautiful."

You say "Don't pay me a compliment if it insults my sister at the same time thanks"

But remember, maybe that person didn't mean it to come out like that......

Say, well I must look fantastic then because she is the most beautiful person I know, and give her a big hug!

Then move away from that rude person, straight away.

Best wishes :-)

Who is that person?
what a ********!
I wouldn't say anything. Their lack of social skills is not your problem.
Your poor sister. How hurtful

This has been said to me on more than one occasion when meeting my sister's friends....

My answer is generally something passive like this "yeah, she passed on her good looks to me once she was done with them"
