I am in the printing industry. I live on the East Coast and I am thinking of possibly moving to Las Vegas in the near future. Are there alot of printing companies specifically Bindery in the Las Vegas or surronding areas. I love Las Vegas and the whole casino scene. Would like to hear from people working in the industry. What they do, how much they make? I will be looking foe a high volume shop with alot of overtime.

I would think twice this is an expensive city to live in for housing and other necessary expenses, auto insurance, Gas, etc.

secondly there are not many high paying jobs in Las Vegas,
as far as casino worker income it is mostly minimum wage plus tips, a precarious way to make a living.

Do some research before moving here do a cost of living index search on Google or MSN there are many places that offer a much better standard of living

I have been out here in vegas since 2001 and work almost in a simalar industry. And from what I know the pay is different than from most major cities. Just to give you an idea of what difference of pay from San Francisco and Vegas. I started in a retail store in California no experience and it was 8.50 an hour in 2000. I got a second job after I transferred out here a few months later and started at like 6.50 working at a Comp Usa as a floor person. Other than that the city is booming and there are lots of jobs for people that have Technology experience and knowledge of how to run production machines. I work in a closed production center for a copy and printing industry. I do know there is a place called Nevada Bindery which is in Las Vegas. But I don't know how much they make. I am gues-timating approximately around 10.00 an hour to start and then raises. But thats about it. Check it out. You could look for places to work on the net using the business search option and find out where else you could work. Thats it. Well Good Luck

Here's my take. Right at this time I wouldn't recommend it. As it has already been stated Las Vegas has a very high unemployment rate and I don't really see things getting much better for them in the coming year. The only way that I would move out there is if I had promise of employment and considering the number of unemployed people out there, why would they offer a job to somebody that doesn't live there when they have plenty of qualified people that do live there for just about every job imaginable. Do I live in Vegas? No. But I work in the casino biz and go to Vegas about once a year and I know plenty of people that do work/live in Vegas and they all tell me that same thing, that Vegas is not a good place to be right now. When you take into account the number of states that have approved slot parlors and casino table games which takes a bite out of Vegas revenue. I honestly don't ever see Vegas being the way it was back in the "high flying 90's".

I don't know anyone in the industry, but probably one of the biggest company's I can think of is Mercury LDO. There are a few others. I have no idea wha the pay is like, but the companies always seem busy!
