Although a Christian, I have found that a Buddhist method is the most affective method for me. It basically starts with how I have hurt myself in the previous day (mentally, emotionally, spiritually) and then I deal with it and forgive myself. Then I move outward to stuff with my family, and then my close friends, and then my colleages, and finally my acquaintances. After dealing with that stuff and consciously forgiving them, I think about the good things that have been done for me or by me and I really feel a lot better and carry around a lighter heart and am more at peace.

We can take comfort in knowing that when we are sorry for our sins and repent God is merciful and forgives us.We know that acceptance of God's son, Jesus Christ and his atonement sacrifice for our sins is more than enough to cover anything that we may have done. We are required to sincerely repent and turn away from our sin. The book of Romans 4:7-8 says, "Blessed are they whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will never count against him."
If God will not hold our sins against us, there is certainly good reason to forgive ourselves! Once we realize the Most High God is not holding our sin against us, we should be able to forgive ourselves.
Romans 5:1-5 says, " Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us."
May the Lord bless you, and may you find the peace that surpasses all understanding!

remember what has happened has happened....if the mistake was on ur part & it hurt somebody else ...if u can do some thing to overcome it then just go and do it...if u can't just leave it to the GOD ...he will surely help u...and think that whatever u did was not ur fault but He made u to do & of course he had a purpose...if someone else hurt u ..just leave it cuz u have nothing to do....i don't mean u be an angel & forgive him/her ...but just don't think about it.....don't bother about it....just have faith in GOD....think about the nice moments of the past...think about the good things u would do in the future ....don't forget to take into account the mistakes done by u & promice urself &GOD that u would not repeat it...He always gives us 2nd,3rd,4th....chances..but its just that we don't ask Him....and still if ur heart is heavy see those who r less lucky than us...and at last everyday spare ur self 5 mins ..go.to.the,mirror ..see ur self &give a whole hearted smile.....i promice this formula would surely work

To find that peace and joy is really quite easy but it is always tempered with n amount of grief and sadness..that's life. However, please take a look at this website...especially the heading on 'Forgiveness' on the left of the main page.
Best wishes, Mike.

Jesus paid the ultimate price on the cross for our salvation, which in essense is one big act of forgiveness. The Enemy is the one who wants us to be hard on ourselves for not following the will of the Lord. Pray that God gives you the peace you need and reminds you of His everlasting grace and mercy.

Don't read the bible. Never try to seek answers in the bible. It will only trouble your mind. Any man without experience in theology is not suitable to interpret the bible.

Instead have a vacation in a serene place. Visit an orphanage. Visit an old friend. Stay with your family and spend the most of it.

Everyone must find their own way to do this, it's not the place of any religion to dictate any human being's action. Suggest yes, dictate no. Not everyone will feel that they need "forgivness" why are you automatically assuming that everyone will feel guilty about something?
