Have you ever actually died in your dreams?

I don't think we can really dream of our death... we can only dream that we are dying (but not yet dead). Unless perhaps we dream we die, but then we are alive like a ghost or spirit or something, maybe...

I've dreamed a number of times that I am dying. I've never actually become dead, though, in a dream.

Also, do you dream of people you love becoming 'dead'? I tend to dream that they are dying but never actually die... maybe because I can't imagine them actually dying because dealing with a close death would be totally out of the realm of my knowledge and experience.

I also had seen my father inside a casket ( who by the way already passed away 6 yrs ago). But the dream occured when he was still alive.

Yes! I have done so. For me, it has occurred when I have undergone some sort of change. It may mean that you have had a big change in your life, and that your old life is "dead" now (or very close to it, since you have not actually died in your dreams). Perhaps you are trying to make a change from something in your life that you want to leave behind - it can be a person, a situation, or just a phase in your life.

I have definitely dreamed of people dying; I think this is likewise related to change. It can mean you are changing, or they have changed, but somehow the person you once knew has altered in a major way.

I dreamed I visited death,my dad did die and I dreamed I went down into his grave and there was a door behind it that opened into a church where all people baptized by this preacher were waiting for something,my grama was there, family I don't know sitting in pews or standing around.dead babies were in coffins.not awake like the others and I walked up to the front and my dad was sitting in the front row,I got down on my knees in front of him and said,"dad"..he put his hand on my forehead and massaged..I felt pain leaving my body, pain of loss and trauma ,some pain I wasn't even aware I carried..dad's eye's were blue as always but changed to the blue color of new born baby eyes..it was an awesome experience and the pain really did leave me.
I have died before and been brought back and I have dreamed of dying..it is not so bad...you go into the blackest darkness, which is scary the first time ,but it is just a doorway,a dark door way, there are many new experiences on the other side.unique ones for all of us,but it is not a bad thing, just a new thing and you know about fear of the unknown,I don't have it as far as death is concerned..

Personally, I have never died in my dream. I have the 'cliffhanger' types. You know, where you're falling endlessly and just as you accept your fate and are about to hit the bottom you get woken up or wake up. Just as I'm typing this I have to wonder, do we really die in the dream but simply choose to not remember such a horrible feeling? If you think about it, in reality we would not be able to know what it is like to pass on, so perhaps our subconscious recognizes and knows this, therefore making it impossible to die in dreams. This, quite possibly, is why we can dream of others dying: because we have had or heard of that experience.

Yes you can die, but when you go back to sleep the next night, you will be alive again. I do think you can become a ghost or spirit, but you can choose that, it is your dream!

If someone in your family died, and you really miss them, they will sometimes visit you in your dreams. And if you dream someone did die in you dream, sometimes they actually do die in real life but that is that is like 2 out of 1000. And the next night, in your dream, they will probably be alive again.

Our dreaming minds are only extensions of our waking minds, and the collection of experiences upon which it is based. That's mostly likely why most people can only imagine themselves as dying and not dead. Since you don't know what its like to be dead, its difficult for your dreaming mind to continue the dream, so the trauma of trying to imagine the unimaginable or unknowable causes you to awake.

I don't dream of people becoming dead, but I do dream of 'dead' people. Mostly its because the issue I have with that person isn't totally resolved, so my subconscious mind 'resurrects' them momentarily so that I can work out whatever is bugging me that is connected to them. Even in the dream, sometimes I know they are dead, or that something isn't right about me thinking that they are alive, but then the issue becomes important and I forget about that discrepancy and work on whatever the problem is.

Maybe you dream about people dying because, like your own dream about dying, your mind is trying to wrestle with a concept you don't know how to face or understand, so your mind sorta gives you 'practice' on how you might deal with it. Also, if it is something that deeply worries you, the emphasis on those feelings will 'force' your mind to act them out on the stage of your dreams, just in order to give them the conscious attention that you have been unconsciously giving them.

I had a very detailed dream a few months ago. My boyfriend, had me in the shower, then turned the water on as hot as it would, then held my head (mouth) under the scorching water, burning and drowning me. Needless to say, I still am alive.

Also, I dreamt that I was holding my breath due to a poisonous gas, and I woke up, because I wasn't breathing.....

Yes. You can dream that you are dead. I think it is a dream about fear of death and dying. Dreams are as limitless as your imagination.
