this person i know says that to get side swept bangs, just cut straight across bangs and sweep them to side of your face. is that true?

that's how my hair is. When i get it cut, they put the bangs right in my face, they cut straight across, then i part them i kinda looks like my avatar. my bangs are almost long enough to put behind my ears. So yes, i think that is what you are talking about.

No it is not true. You actually should cut them at an angle. Go to a proffessional because it is also going to depend on your personal hair texture and current style.

yep, i prefer parting it first then cutting in the bangs

pretty much....you have bangs and you part it to the side brushing it over..just like your avatar pic
