talk to your recruiter and tell him you changed your mind due to personal reasons and hopefully he won't get pissed because he didn't meet his quota.

you can flunk out. not qualify with your weapon, fail many other test. There will be a price to pay.

Now, if you are in delayed entry, the first oath does not count. It is a fake. The one you take when you actualy go active, your entry date is binding legaly. You can not take an oath for a contract until you are there on the active duty date. and yes, national guard and reserves are considered active duty during basic and any other training like AIT!

If you are recieving full time pay you are considered active duty.

Did you say an oath? Did you sign documents? If you did, you're in. If you didn't report to basic training as ordered, you are unreliable and a fraudulent human being at best. At worst, you are AWOL and should be punished by the military.

You are not in the military and subject to the UCMJ until you officially become DoD property at recruit training. Don't let it get to this point if you really do not want to join the military.

Your recruiter may give you a rash of ****, but you can walk away at any point up until then and no one can do anything to you other then question your integrity.

If you don't show up for your boot camp date you can be considered AWOL and arrested. Don't skip out, its not worth it, even if your in the delayed entry program if you've been to MEPS and sworn in, that means that you've signed who knows how many papers and and therefore must show up for your boot camp date.

If you for some reason need to back out or push the date back speak to your recruiter immidietly or you will face punishment.

I don't think so especially since it's war time or maybe you just found out you had a medical condition that would prevent you from serving. Call a recruit station and just ask them this same question.

You were man enough to sign a contract, after all, no one twisted your arm to sign up. So live up to your word.

Yes, but why do that? Doesn't your oath or your word mean anything to you?
