Carajo is not a bad word; and when used in that manner (your question), it's mainly used to describe annoyance, irritation or displeasure. In other words, someone who is annoyed at being disturbed would use that word.
You can also use carajo to describe a person, such as:

This is how I would describe, or translate, this word in that sentence; but of course that's only my opinion.

I don´t agree with the idea that it is not a bad word. Depending on the country it is a bad word.
