Now, I need to know based on comparison of range, power, versatility, knowledge of music, and other musical talents. I really will not accept any answer like Mariah is better because she didn't smoke and do drugs, or Whitney is better because she didn't make Glitter (by the way, I bought Glitter and Charmbracelet)

Mariah has a smoother voice with an eight octave range. They would both know their stuff but I heard Whitney Houston is one of the few performers around who can go into a recording booth and do a give a perfect vocal first time. I think Whitney has destroyed her voice from living hard whereas Mariah is healthy and strong. Mariah would get my vote.

Whitney was the best during her first 4 albums. Now, with the drugs, Mariah is definitely a better voice. Naturally, they are both great. But Whitney has thicker vocal cords and more power which resonates more soul in her voice.

Whitney before crack...Mariah has a very sensual voice that can reach levels unmaginable..Mariah Carey is the better singer now.

who cares what whitney did or does i believe shes a better singer. when u compare them i believe she has more talent, she seems to have more knowledge about music and her voice is so amazing. u might say whitney can be mariahs "teacher" well thats what i think but mariah does have her things.
