If this is for Father's day, write a letter telling him of the qualities of your spouse that you admire that can be attributed to the way your FiL raised your spouse.
Let your spouse take his/her dad on a fishing trip, day trip to the mountains, lake, whatever HIS favorite activity is and let them enjoy the time together. If he likes staying at home and watching NASCAR, buy him a six pack and let them watch together.
