In my opinion, it shouldn't be. Premarital sex is a sin, right? Well if someone wants to stay a virgin, or celebate, they're bound to have urges. Self pleasure can help but you still stay a virgin. I know its not the most Christian thing to do but I'm wondering, will you go to hell for it? I masturbate and fantasize but I plan on not having sex until I'm married, and legal. I have done sexual things but I feel deep regret for it.

You THINK you feel deep regret because the Bible condemns sexual behavior. There's nothing wrong with sex at all. You'll realize Christianity and all other organized religions give you a bad view of morality.

It isn't a sin until you orgasm. In the Bible or maybe just Catholic doctrine I don't know....it says that you can do whatever, as long as you don't orgasm (but then whats the point!!). You should only orgasm with the intent to concieve a child.

But I don't think it should be a sin either. Basically all the sex stuff in the Bible about not using birthcontrol and not masterbating is just to hold women back and keep them barefoot and pregnant. Sorry, I am not having a kid every 9 months because I like to have sex with my husband.

I'm sorry you feel guilty about your feelings. Do you really think a kind and loving God would want you to feel bad that way? I don't think so. About masturbation specifically, in the Bible this usually refers to males and is called 'onanism.' Most scholars who have really tried to arrive at the historical truth of the Bible believe that the reason this was considered taboo a couple of thousand years ago was because the mideast was UNDERpopulated. There was a need to procreate and have babies so people could till the land, etc. So masturbation could conceivably be an obstacle to this. But TODAY, the world is getting overpopulated to the point there won't be enough food for everyone. We will all die terrible deaths if we don't reduce the birth rate. Do you think that God would really want that of the creatures he created in his own image. I don't think so.

I think it is probably considered a sin by religius folks but ,I think there is no harm in making yourself feel good when it hurts nothing or no one. Heck if it is really that bad of a thing to do ,we are all in trouble. Can anyone think of what it hurts to do it? I can't, so have a good time I say. In reality there is probably something wrong with someone who has not done it at least once in their life. Glad I don't fall in that catagory.

Reminds me of a Guido Sarducci monologue from many years ago. He wondered what if every sin had a dollar value attached to it, like murder would be $50,000 down to masturbation being twenty-five cents, and you'd earn money for each day you lived, and as long as you had money in your spiritual account when you died, you'd get into heaven. And he was afraid he'd get there and be a quarter short. (I may be wrong on the details. Like I said, it was a long time ago)

Sorry, it seems I had no actual answer.

Fantasizing and lusting is a sin. I don't care if people thumbs me down all day, I am simply repeating what the book that defines sin says. If you don't take the Bible's definition of sin, then there is no sin at all. But, according to the Bible, if you have looked at someone with lust, you have committed adultery already in your heart. If I were you, I would try and let God have that area of my life. God ONLY wants what is best for you. You will have less regrets, fewer consequences from poor decisions, and more peace if you are obedient to Him. And remember, sin has no more power over you, Christ has shown us how we can have victory in all areas of our lives.

If masturbation is a sin, then I would estimate that around 99% of the Earth's population will be held accountable.

Masturbation is the body's gift to itself. As long as it doesn't develop into an unhealthy obsession, it harms absolutely no one. The idea that masturbation is sinful is superstition.
