Yes you are allowed to travel with a portable DVD player on the aircraft. They just do not allow you use it during takeoff and landings, but other then that you can watch all the movies you want!

Yes~ you can. In fact some airport across the country have a video rental store in the terminal. I browsed the one at Phoenix Sky Harbor recently and was impressed. They even have video player and movie rental packages for 3, 5, 7 & 10 days.
You can also bring hand held video games, Ipods and personal computers. You just cannot use a cell phone or anything that sends out a radio signal on the plane.
