Cause
Middle ear infections are caused by bacteria and viruses.
During a cold, sinus, or throat infection or an allergy attack, the eustachian tubes, which connect the middle ear to the throat, can become blocked. This stops fluid from draining from the middle ear. This fluid is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria or viruses to grow into an ear infection.
Bacterial infections. Bacteria cause about 65% to 75% of all ear infections.1 The most common types are Streptococcus pneumoniae (also called pneumococcus), Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis.
Viral infections. Viruses can also lead to ear infections. The respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the most frequent type found, followed by influenza (flu) viruses.1
Causes of fluid buildup
When swelling from an upper respiratory infection or allergy blocks the eustachian tube, air can't reach the middle ear. This creates a vacuum and suction, which pulls fluid from a cold or allergy into the middle ear. Then, swelling prevents this fluid from draining. An ear infection begins when the fluid becomes infected with bacteria.
Inflammation and fluid buildup can occur without infection and cause a feeling of stuffiness in the ears. This is known as otitis media with effusion.
My oppinion, no, you can not get an ear infection from your cat drinking your water. My cat and dog drinks out of my cup of water and nothing happened to me. I think that your doctor doesn't wan you to have your cat drink after you. Glad that you're feeling better. :-)

I had a similar ear infection about a month ago. I had to go to emergency, and I lost all hearing in both ears. It was bad. I took three full bottles of antibiotics before it cleared up. I started feeling better about a week ago but my hearing is not 100% back to normal yet. I suppose I'll be ok in a few more days if not I will follow up with the doctor.
I don't have a cat.

3 distinctive vets on the comparable prepare? i could bypass to a distinctive prepare altogether. It unquestionably isn't impossible for 3 cats to have an ear an infection on the comparable time, it particularly is nonsense. It relies upon what pathogen is inflicting the an infection - if it particularly is a contagious one and the cats are close and groom one yet another plenty this is completely a risk for them to bypass an infection around. you may no longer continually place self assurance in Revolution to sparkling up ear mites, it relies upon how undesirable the undertaking replaced into interior the 1st place. Do you spot black gunk down your cat's ears? this could be a demonstration of ear mites - you may choose ear drops particularly than Revolution. there's a risk this is no longer mites in any respect, wherein case Revolution would be doing no longer something. it may desire to bacterial, fungal or maybe an allergy. Strongly advise going to a distinctive vet prepare! Chalice

That is highly unlikely.
According to one source: "Viruses and parasites tend to be especially species-specific. For example, most viruses that infect people won't infect dogs or cats, and most of their viruses won't infect people. There are a very few parasites of dogs, and especially cats, that can infect people, but these are generally not in the animal's mouth. Even many bacteria have strong preferences for host species. If your dog kisses you when you have strep throat, it is not likely to get strep, but your mom might get it from you by a kiss on the mouth. "

Your ear infection was likely do some other infection that you were exposed to, not from your cat! Your husband is just trying to blame it on the cat as most men try and do.
Glad your ear is feeling better! I had an eardrum perforate when I was younger, so I can feel your pain!

No.
With the exception of a couple of things, diseases are transferrable between humans and cats (rabies being one of them).
Domesticated cats have had their behavior and physiology altered by being under human control for so long. Even if they were capable of transmitting more diseases -- it's been bred out of them through the generations.

i highly doubt that it was from your cat....if your cat is healthy and everything, it shouldn't be from the cat. ask your doctor if that could happen.
