I saw how the way Lee spar in real life and you know what I think? He'll beat the hell out of any MMA fighter, To Ken Shamrock through the Gracie family and you name it everybody! No matter how big the opponent might be or good at ground game he can be, Lee would take them out in 10 to 15 second if they don't wear helmet. I think people are hella stupid when they say Lee would get own by this and that, they don't know that Lee have ground game also that would make an opponent scream for their mother to help them in a blink of an eye!!! Lee style is design to finish an opponent very fast if you don't believe it look at the book of his Jeet Kune Do and his sparring tapes. Lee is so fast and skillful lucky the guy wore helmet or else with so much kick form Lee on the guy head so many time he'll be in the hospital already! For people who is good at submission and grappling it will be a stupid idea to get close to Lee and try to grab him, you'll be pin yourself and break your arm in no time

I watch MMA ALOT not to disrespect them. I respect all you guys opinion. I'm actually talikng about Lee sparring in real life tape not in movie. Not to be disrespectful, I think you guy see that if the opponent is larger and buffer he'll have a good chance of winning. Which is true in some case not all, the faster and deceptive you are the better chance of you winning. If Lee can break a board what more punishing kick can he do to Bob Sapp legs? Yes is true that one huge hit from Sapp can knock out Lee but that ain't going to happen becuase of how quick and skillful he is. You guy mainly think that just that Bruce is small and he won't have a chance, but you must remember he is deadly powerful and strong!!! Just like mike tyson beating his larger opponent because he is fast and his defense is phenominal O.K that is boxing you might think, but Lee is very skillful with his leg also. You know what I think about Matt Hugh beating Royce Gracie, I think Matt is in his prime and Royce is not

Lee was a real dragon.
Rest in peace Bruce.
I respect you as the greatest chinese martail artist.
Bruce style of Kung Fu known as JKD, is designed on a simple concept.
Unlike all the other martial arts, JKD does not advice defence in the occasion of an attack.
JKD says: every attack originated from your opponent, is an oportunity for you to attack.
It means do not defend to neutralize an attack,Attack to neutralize an attack.
Bruce never used his hands to block any Kicks from his opponents.
Kicks take care of kicks and the arms are free to take care of arm strikes.
But listen my friend.
What you see in the movies, Lee kicking every one, left and right, up and down, is not what Lee was.
According to Bruce Lee himself, his kickings were not very strong.
His real fight strength was in his arms.
Have you watched Ernesto Host Vs Bob Sapp in K1?
I guess it was 2004 or 2005.
Ernesto Host is tittled as "The King of the Ring" and I'm sure he's one of the best fighters ever stepped into the ring.
He was beating the hell out of Bob but in one occasion, our fat, useless Bob landed ONE nasty Upper Cut and Ernesto was done.
Cause Bob's bicep is as big as Ernesto's Chest.
Ernesto is a 210lbs guy and Bob is a 450lbs elephant.
I'm sure even Lee wouldn't be able to finish a buff like Bob Sapp.
At least not in a short time as everyone is saying.Maybe Lee could just keep scaping Bob's strikes and attack bob in opportunate momments till Bob gives it up.
Cause the kicks of 150lbs Lee cannot hurt a 450lbs muscle bag.And Lee was 5'9" and Bob is arnd 7'.
Don't take me wrong I hate Bob Sapp and I'd pesonally give him a nice lesson if get the chance.
Ernesto's mistake was that he let bob get too close to him.Cause he almost had Bob down with his extremely powerfull Low Kicks.
My friend, let's not compare the great Lee with anyone and let him remain an unbeaten legend.
Comparing him with others would be like disrespecting him.
Hail to the legends like Bruce Lee, Matsutatsu Oyama, Andy Hug and Muhammad Ali.

If Bruce Lee was alive and in his prime, then I think he'd have a good chance against another fighter of similar stature. As others have pointed out before, he pioneered the MMA. He was always talking about just taking what is useful, and discarding what isn't useful, and then testing it to see if it works in a real fight, that's exactly what MMA is all about.
That being said, a lot of people may not realize it, but Lee was also a grappler himself. He trained privately with Gene LeBell, and according to LeBell, Bruce Lee loved grappling. So he was well aware of grappling's effectiveness.
Now Bruce Lee vs. a much larger opponent, would obviously give Lee a lot more trouble than against someone smaller or equal to his size, and in a lot of ways, it might not be that bad. For example, Royce Gracie has beaten a ton of guys bigger than himself, including the 6' 8 400 lbs Chad Rowan. Now, no one thought he would stand a chance against Matt Hughes, who was even smaller than himself. And the reason is because while Royce had been fighting guys much larger than himself, he had never fought someone as quick or as explosive as Matt Hughes. And Matt proved to be too much for Royce.
In short, I think if this was the early UFCs (like UFC 1-10) Bruce Lee would have done very well, because at that time, he was way ahead of everyone. He would have been an MMA fighter while the rest were still stuck in their single disciplines. Bruce Lee vs. modern MMA fighters on the other hand... I would say he has as good of a chance as any if he prepared for it.
By the way, others have brought up Ernesto Hoost vs. Bob Sapp; yeah Hoost did lose to Sapp, but Hoost is also getting pretty old. Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic is much smaller than Bob Sapp but he KO'd Sapp with basically one well placed punch. Size matters in a fight, but that doesn't mean it is always the determining factor.

Bruce lee is one of my idols and always will be.
He was the reason i started MMA, at the age of 15 ( he was alive at the time) and I'm thankful for that.
Your Que. is very interesting, cause i always thought about, what would be the out come of a fight between Lee and a top MMA fighter!
Even though i almost know Lee's in and out and his styles and abilities, but to days top fighters are very good and well rounded. I know, Lee also was well rounded, but I'm not too sure if he could face the challenge. Believe me, i wish i could say for certain that he could. I give you an example: I don't think any one could deny Royce Gracie and his total domination of the UFC, when it started. Remember? he was a skinny guy, no muscle but he took out every beast who came along, not to mention few fights a night!!
BUT, Matt Hugh's destroyed him. Just because, MMA got evolved along with fighters. So, i can't say for sure that, Lee could come out of a fight, a winner. GOD BLESS HIS SOUL.

the problem with the fan is exactly this, they can never be critics.
please, be serious.
if you see MMA you should have at least an idea.
Tyson could beat bigger opponents, true. but tyon was about 100 kg and the heaviest opponent no more than 112 kg (and btw he had some trouble with the bigger one).
bruce lee was 70 kg. and he was an actor. he didn't even test himselfs vs any fighter (i not some dimostration).
ou could love him for his mental strenghts, for his skills, for his brain and his role in the history of the sport. maybe for his carisma, and sure, he probbaly was a tought guy.. but no way he could surive a modern MMA fighter of other class. if he could take down somme MMA artist of his class i would be surprise.
ps: this time i wuld put my money on sapp.

Bruce Lee was one of the best Martial Artists to have ever lived, but I don't think he was completely invincible. That isn't to say he sucks or anything (I agree that some of these MMA, BJJ, and Muay Thai people need to get their head checked when they say "XYZ would beat him in like 11 seconds."), but no one can beat everyone. Chuck Norris gave him a run for his money: Who is to say an MMA fighter with an eclectic Martial Art couldn't do the same? I can't say who can beat him, but I now he didn't blowout EVERYONE that tested him.

jesus christ, how about you put him with someone his own weight first. Like Miguel Torres. after Migul Torres whooped his *** you'd all realize how idiotic it sounds to put him againstt a heavyweight. you're talking about putting an actor with no real competitive fight expereince out side of extremely low level boxing where he displayed mediocre skill against a professional champion fighter. Miguel torres would embarrass Lee. I'm amazed ayt the ignorance Bruce lee fans show towards fighting. sure he beat people up... in ******* MOVIES that wrere choreographed to make him look good!

Bruce Lee knew and worked out with Mohammed Ali.
Ali said in a ring Ali would win, in a street fight Bruce Lee would win.
