Is anyone familiar with epiploic appendagitis (not appendicitis)? It's somewhat rare, but I had it about 1 1/2 years ago. I had some pains today that made me wonder if one would be prone to repeat attacks. I've read about it but I didn't see anything about it recurring.

I don't have any direct knowledge about recurrence, but I think it is definitely possible. The longer the epiploic appendages are, the more likely they are to have problems, and it could be that some people have longer epiploic appendages than others. In addition, if you did not have surgery with your prior episode, the original one could still be prone to twisting again. This is all total speculation on my part. There are many, many causes of abdominal pain, and of course you would need to see a doctor to know what was causing the pains you had today. I hope it ends up being nothing serious.
