Because if there is not misery, there are not jobs for socialists. Think about it in Canada, with socialized medicine.
First, as a loser doctor you go to the school and tell the kids they should have sex. Then when the girl gets pregnant, you abort her or you deliver the child. Then you get the money for her mental problems, for her STDs and for the beatings she has from her exes. You write out the scripts for her birth control tablets. She collects welfare from the government. More jobs for the government losers who push poor people around and feel superior to them. Next, her kid copies her, if she is a girl and you get more money. If she has a boy, then the social workers get the money and there is a good chance you will get money from the government as the doctor for the females the kid gets pregnant. Then you have a really rewarding cycle of poverty and you can drive your Volvo and talk about helping the poor.
The big thing is to break up families, attack marriage, denigrate working joes who are fathers and then cash in on all the misery. But poor people do not realize that these people are not their friends.

American socialists don't have the wit to look at the failure of socialism all over the world. Look at England, they went through a long spell of socialism. "Tax the Rich to feed the poor 'til there's rich no more". You know what happens? The only people left are the poor and getting poorer.
I remember when the Democrats pushed through a typically foolish socialist law. they decided to heavily tax the sale of luxury yachts.
The results were quite predictable. American yacht builders went out of business because the rich could buy the same yachts out of the country. the only thing this stupid "We'll stick it to the rich" law did was put a bunch of workers on unemployment.

Wow, the socialists are so powerful they stop the US from creating jobs!
YOu know what is so weird - why did anyone think there was a need for such programs in the first place? I mean, there must have been full employment and gravy train days for all until the socialists arrived.
It's like, why did regulations ever come into being? The market was handling it, making sure no one ever produced a shoddy product that killed anyone. No company ever locked their fire escapes, causing dozens of young girls to perish in a fire. I mean C"MON ON!
I mean, it is so totally bizarro. Especially since there is ONE Whole Socialist Congress Person in the whole united states. His power is uncanny.

Ok well what about a scenario where there are two companies in a market where they have an agreement to fix wages at a rock bottom rate. The workers have no other skills and have to work for one of these companies to make a living and put food on the table but live in virtual poverty. Meanwhile the employers are making millions of dollars of pure profit.
Is this not a situation where government action is needed in the form of a minimum wage?

Silly paranoid person. Like the first poster said, there is ONE socialist in the U.S. Congress. And who says welfare is a bad thing? If run right, it can be a great thing. Look at Denmark. They actually advertise themselves as a welfare state. Look at the quality of life in that country!
Oh and yes, we should hunt these socialists down! Typical con, silencing dissent.

You must have been sleeping for the last ten years Socialists have no power to regulate any programs and the US is not creating jobs in America, it's sending US jobs and resources overseas so that corporations can make more money. You should know that your fascist leaders are winning.

All these people are talking smack. Maybe you should have called the "socialists" by one of their current names. Liberal or Progressive.
The original name Communist became taboo long ago so it was changed to socialist which is also frowned upon. Now they are adapting to continue their Anti-democracy effort.
If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck....
