My doctor had me on Norco (10/325mg) and recently switched me to Darvocet (650). Will there be a substantial difference in the two? The Norco REALLY makes me feel high and I don't like it. Thanks!

I thought that acetemenophin (sp?) was safe for your stomach?

the difference is like night and day. You will NOT feel high, but depending on what kind of pain you are treating, may or may not get relief. There is a big difference between the 2. I believe the Norco is highly addictive where I rarely here about anyone getting addicted to Darvocet. Good luck.

Big difference. You may find that you like the darvocet much better, because they're not nearly as strong a painkiller as Norco. The darvocet does provide some mild pain relief, but you shouldn't get the "high" that you do with the Norco. Yes, there will be a substantial difference in the two pain meds. Darvocet is one of the milder prescription painkillers on the market.

Norco is great for keeping the pain away, but darvocet is only so-so. Aren't you worried that the extra acetaminophen
(650-325 = 325mg) will tear up your stomach

Yes, Norco is considered to be stronger, but pain medication affects everyone different. I have found neither Darvocet (basically high-dose advil) nor Norco (Hydrocodone and Tylenol) to be effective, but many other people do. It really just depends on your body. Pay careful attention to how you react to it and let your doctor know if it's not working.

The Acetamenophen IS safe for your stomach. What it ISN'T safe for is your liver. Especially if you drink alcohol regularly. Even without it, it will destroy your liver if taken in high doses, or for a long period of time on a regular basis. Do you have chronic pain? If so, you should see a pain management specialist, who will put you on medications that DO NOT contain any Tylenol. My pain doctor says the Tylenol can cause you liver to gangrene over time.

Well then you will love Darvocets cause they don't do anything.
