We've used K12 for over five years and LOVE it! K12 is based on the Core Knowledge sequence which I really believe in. They even add additional depth and breadth to that based on the most recent cognitive research. The lessons have activities that meet all learning styles, which is great since my son is a global learner.

Besides the content, though, the best part of K12, IMO, are the online planning and progress tools. The plan is dynamic, not static like a printed plan many curriculums use. The progress tools help keep you and your student on track for your completion dates (whatever they are). You can set your schedule to be whatever you want - or follow no set schedule at all. You can change it at any time, too. Or you can just go by the default 180-day calendar.

The materials K12 provides are incredible! You get a lot for the money (especially if you use a public virtual school!). Your state may have a virtual school/program available that uses K12. If not, you can purchase it on your own as an independent HS'er (called "Consumer Direct" on their site).

Not all of K12 is online. There are plenty of offline activities in workbooks, doing experiments, reading classic literature and novels, producing artwork, practicing music, etc. It is highly engaging not only for the students, but the parents also! I've learned a lot in History and Art that was never covered in all my K-12 schooling years - some not even in college!

You can get more info on their site:

You can also attend an online info session. If you do have a virtual public school option, they may also have live demos/open houses around your state. You can also gain access to an online demo account for about a week to see the "meat" of the program.

Consider using just history sites and math software. That way you only paying as you go.
