He was caught with a little bit of pot awhile ago, and the terms of his probation were that he had to do some community service, he didnt complete it in the allotted time, and i got a message on my answering machine today..him making a collect call from county jail. I never got a chance to talk to him and i am extremely distressed by this. Is there any chance that he will get off without doing time? also, if i have to bail him out, how much will that be?

i know its easy to say things like dump this loser, but its not as easy to do; I love him. He is flawed yes but i have never had such a good time with someone. And I agree that people should not be jailed for pot.

awww.. i'm so sorry to hear about this. I know it sucks! can't law enforcement officials be such assholes sometimes!! Anyway i know how you feel. I got a message from my boyfriend who had been arrested for speeding.
worst part was I couldn't even get in touch to talk to him for days!!
he had to pay (an enormous amt) to bond out. waited till his court date and was told to get a lawyer because he'd be spending 6-12 months in jail. For speeding!!

As for your question, I don't know how much time he'll be sentenced thats really up to the judge. If they really have something against him, as in my bf's case, they can stick him with the entire maximum sentence. Most likely won't be more than a couple months. but yeah I know it sucks big time!!

good luck to you and your bf. hope it all works out♥

Your bf is arrested for mere possession of pot and had not completed his community service, and now he is notified to complete the community service or be jail. Quite simple, just finished the remaining days of the community service and he is scout free. Imagine what is a community service? The word alone is so pleansant to hear service to the community yet your bf cannot even do that? Planting seeds in a park would constitute community service, sweeping sidewalks and cleaning seawage disposal is another, he cannot do such things yet he violate law ordinances.

No donot dump him stay with him until he clears his head up. Maybe then he will grow up. Well you certainly need talking a lot with him. Good luck.

sounds like he is going back to jail to serve his time..

he was silly enough not to take and make the most of the chance he was given not to go to jail - probably they will make an example of him (they probably have a few who stuff this up..)

call the police or court to ask what could happen and what the bail would/will be... but bailing him out may be a bad idea as he had community service (a soft option) and he let tht slip through his fingers.... also ask the jail if you can visit him or contact him (if you haven't already...)

community service in FL is given in lieu of reformatory time decrease than the effect which you're a accepted time criminal and you do no longer prefer to bypass to reformatory. once you went to courtroom or with the aid of diversion you have been informed what your sentence could be or how plenty service you would be required to do. you will in all probability sentenced to the minimum instruction manual for the crime except it replaced into drug crime and judges tend to be a sprint greater durable on those and might max the sentence. in case you behave in reformatory you may earn time, get solid time and so on, yet in all probability will do it least a million/3 to a million/2 of the sentence. Be grateful the elections are over because of the fact no person desires to look soft at election time.

Call the judge and ask him. But keep in mind community service is an alternative to jail and a bargain for your BF.

Since he failed to complete the community service the court is enforcing the sentence in the only possible way.

If he got bailed out the first time, then the bond doubles to get him out again. He got an MTR. Motion To Revoke probation or his bond. You can get him out by paying double, but when he goes to court (he's is going to have to go.) the judge might just sentence him to do time, since he did not fulfill his probation officer's orders the first time. If he took a plead no contest to stay out of jail the first time, then he might be sentenced to do some time as a term of his probation.

first get rid of this dead beat.....it sounds to me that he's gonna have a life time of him going to prison and not learning from his mistakes. second, it depends on the state it happened in...on average 2-4 years. it could be longer it could be shorter...the judge may sentence him 15 yrs for all every body knows.
just think about this: he didn't complete community service, he was caught with pot, he's in jail....again, don't you think him getting trouble with the law seems to always reoccur????

Depends on your state, It is usually for 2 to 4 years. The courts think of it as if you escaped punishment. Do Not bail this deadbeat boyfriend out. Thier are MILLIONS of better guys out there that are better than him. While he is in jail is a good time to find one.
