As a catholic priest would say, 'It's just not for us to know.' I have my doubts as to whether "god" EVER "spoke" to man at all.

God has never stop speaking to man. Man has forgotten how to tune in to God. Have you ever been walking around outside and just made yourself stop look up listen for 3-5 minutes? Or have you ever walked by someone and felt as though there was an inner connection between the two of you?
Have you ever noticed that there is always a clear day after the storm? All of these things are God's evidence that He is present and that He is speaking to us, we just need to listen more carefully.

In the Old Testament, God was only speaking through the priests and prophets. They were also used to give God sacrificial offerings (rams, pigions, etc.) In the new testament, when Jesus died for our sins as a sacrificial offerings for our sins, He made a bridge between us and God the Father, so that we can have relationship with God. Therefore, we can go straight to God through Jesus without the priests and the prophets. God bless. Oliveoil

Jesus said "You must be born again"

Those who have found the spiritual life that follows from the new birth can testify to the reality of this Scripture:

"The time is coming, declares the Lord,
when I will make a new covenant
with the house of Israel
and with the house of Judah.
It will not be like the covenant
I made with their forefathers
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
because they did not remain faithful to my covenant,
and I turned away from them, declares the Lord.
This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel
after that time, declares the Lord.
I will put my laws in their minds
and write them on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
No longer will a man teach his neighbor,
or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,'
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest.
For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more."
Hebrews 8:8-12

God continues to speak today to those who have ears to hear. Mainly, He speaks by His Spirit in the heart of true believers, especially in unfolding the true sense of the Scriptures, the Word of God.
Certainly He also speaks through preachers of the Word who are anointed by His Holy Spirit.
That is in fact the only way one can be saved. By hearing the invitation of God through the proclamation of the Gospel and responding in faith to the message.

Some people believe god talks to them. Some believe they actually need to hear a "voice" or actually see "god" to believe. Me, I really cannot answer your question because I have always remained in the middle of it all....questioning and listening......but you do have a point! I hope you get some good answers! Didn't god speak to bush and tell him to go to war????

Since God is the same yesterday and today why would He not call more prophets. The foundation of Christ's Church is Apostles and Prophets, Jesus Christ being the chief corner stone.
Do you believe there should be modern revelation for His children in these latter days? It would make sense right?
I believe so.

God is the same today as yesterday and forever, he does not change, but you can get his holy spirit to come and live in you and that's when you become aware of his presence for today, here read this and get his spirit right now and then go read his word with his spirit and he will make it come alive.

He didn't. That's a common misconception. He still speaks today. I am Apostolic. When people speak in tongues, words of God sometimes come out.

The last message was sufficient. (besides, people kept ignoring and changing things around. What's the point in resending the same message interminably?)

Fools made god in their image.

Number of fools have slowly faded away as we have progressed with time. Hence god doesn't speak to us anymore.
