I only tried Vista for a few days and I *HATED* it. I was really glad the computer kept crashing, so I could return it. Two different Brand new computers, and both kept crashing, over and over with Vista.

I was VERY glad to return the vista computers, and get my money back and get back on a reliable ( and easy to understand ) XP.

Helpful hint - Get XP Professional, it will still have support. They're pulling support from the regular Windows XP.

( They're pulling support, trying to FORCE people to switch to vista, which is nothing but a major headache. Lots of tools for psp won't work with Vista.

Vista is a new program full of BUGS BUGS BUGS, and incompatible with lots of stuff that you've got in PSP.
If a product is GOOD, they wouldn't have to try and FORCE people to use it by removing almost all retail store sources for computers set up with XP.

don't get Vista !

Okay that's just my opinion, but I've read MANY other people say the same thing, RUN away from Vista. maybe in a few years they will work out the bugs, but right now it's horrible, and many people who have it are very sorry they do.

If you get it, good luck finding someone who can even show you how to use it. The people at the stores don't even know how to use it. Neither did the cable people.

* You can find computers with XP or XP Professional online,
or build your own. To have longer lasting support , get the XP Professional.

Years down the line after all of the poor people suffer through reporting a million problems with Vista and someone figures out how to use it, maybe THEN you might want to change to Vista. Right now, I see no need for it, and it's a huge pain in the rear.

Window Vista has way more feature plus better hardware that support vista with window xp barely any functions that can keep up with newer technology. Plus the reason why they make a 2nd Verizon of a product is because it is better then the 1 st verizon. So before you start saying window xp is better then vista which is obviously not because with window xp barley has any functions can it support blue tooth? Can window xp be attach to xbox 360 or ps3? vista can but plus these people who are saying xp either cant afford vista or has a older computer.... And also they made a newer verison of vista less glichts.

I run a duel Hard Drive, and Have both XP and Vista on my Computer.
The answer I would give to your question, is what do you want to do with your Computer?
If you are doing any kind of Graphics or related processes then XP is your better bet. I say this because alot of the programs for Graphics such as Paint Shop Pro won't work with Vista. Also Another Program that is not compatable is Incredimail. I have also found that several games that I enjoy aren't compatable with Vista.

Now as far as it's efficency, Vista is a well managed program. It does run slightly faster than XP and has better color etc.

My Husband and I both run E-Machine Computers and we both had to purchase more Memory and Ram for Vista to work. It takes more than any other windows program.

So It would be a matter of what you prefer and what you intend to use your computer for, as to what version will be best for you.

If you have an opportunity to try out Vista on another computer, try it first and see what you think.

Well comparing xp to vista I'd have to say vista because it is much more functional then xp. The search feature for example. Also you don't want to be caught behind in xp when programs start to work mainly with vista. Also if you are going to get vista make sure it is home premium or ultimate because home basic has almost no good features and business doesn't come with the fun stuff. I chose ultimate becasue of the extras that I get such as windows dreamscene. When I look back at xp it looks so blaze.

I'm using Windows Vista Home Edition.. However.. I wouldn't mind getting behind XP again. Vista does have some bugs in it, compatibility issues. However, nothing that I can't work around or need to worry about at present.

I myself am using a Toshiba Satellite Laptop. 1.7 Duel Core processors, 110-120 Gig Hard drive and 1 Gig of Ram. That should be more than enough to run your 2 programs that you have listed. Hope that helps.

For total compatibility of all hardware and software NOW, I pick WinXP, especially with the software that you mentioned. I haven't seen any problems with new computers pre-loaded with Vista but I'm not sure if the software mentioned are compatible with it. Down the road (6-8 months) I would probably recommend to jump to Vista.

Good luck on your decisions...

If you want a high end laptop go alienware...as for xp or vista...I've used them both for a long time...I have multiple systems running various from 2000 pro to XP to Server to Vista....so far vista is my favorite. I've yet to find anything that I can't run on vista.

Don't buy Vista, there are several plugins that don't work in PSP. And there are some major other problems.
XP is the best.

XP is 100 times better currently....Vista has a lot of built in "security" features which end up making it very hard to navigate and use your computer.

Thanks,

I think it is preference but useally the with in the first year of release there are bugs to be worked out...and from what I understand you have to have at least a gig of ram for it to perform properly. I like Toshiba's personally, but really if you get 2 gigs of RAM, and dual core processor should run pretty fast. If you plan of doing lot of video editing I would look for a good video card-something like this.
