Believe it or not you need to eat to lose weight.(Five small meals a day for some people is about right). Follow me on this before you dismiss it completely. We retain weight when we don't eat because the body thinks it's starving, so it slows our metabolism to a crawl. But when you eat frequent, small meals throughout the day, you give yourself the fuel needed to accomplish your daily tasks effectively, and you avoid the tendency to eat voraciously when you have your evening meal because you've been sated all during the day. (Over time your metabolism will increase and you'll burn calories more efficiently, causing you to lose weight). When I say "meals" I mean small-portioned snacks of healthy items: salads, soups, fresh fruit, etc (just enough to take the edge off) then go on about your business. Steer clear of the fast-foods, and increase your physical activity....walk the stairs instead of taking the elevator at work. Park further out in the parking lot, leave the snack vending machine alone for awhile. (Note: Consult your physician before you begin any exercise regimen, but once you've been cleared to do so, make the activity "fun" so you're likely to continue with it. IF you HATE it, you won't do it for long, and you'll make excuses to avoid it). Here's a biggie: Drop the sodas (even the so-called "diet" ones). They're full of empty calories, they don't satisfy your thirst, and over time your body will learn to metabolize "diet" drinks the same way as sugar-filled beverages. Drink fruit juices, and lots of water. They will curb your appetite and help you maintain portion discipline at meal times. *A "portion" at any meal should generally be about the size of your balled up fist. Lastly, try to make your final meal of the day as early in the evening as you can manage it...and well before you retire for the night. It doesn't matter so much "what" you eat...you still want to enjoy your life...but watch the size of your portions, and be aware of the fact that your digestion slows to a stop at night (in sync. with your Circadian Rhythm), so eat whatever you're going to eat before that occurs. Lunges, squats and crunches DO work but they must be performed properly to avoid injury. For that matter, any motion or exercise you do will benefit the body. Spot reducing isn't possible but exercise helps the body as a whole.

YOGA. In my opinion, it's the best excersize out there. It's good for losing weight, becoming more flexible, and good health in general.
