I woke up in the darkness but my thoughts gave way to a satanic Darkness that made the darkness black yet fear griped me for the Darkness was not lighted by my thoughts; those terrible obsessive thought that lead to more Darkness. Then the fleeting thought of light and the Darkness dissipated and I was only in darkness--I felt relieved and I welcomed the darkness for it was night.

I know that Supreme Personality of Godhead who is transcendental to all material conceptions of DARKNESS. Only he who knows Him can transcend the bonds of birth and death. There is no way for liberation other than this knowledge of that Supreme Person.

He is the source of light in all luminous objects. He is beyond the DARKNESS of matter and is unmanifested. He is knowledge, He is the object of knowledge, and He is the goal of knowledge. He is situated in everyone's heart.

That understanding which considers irreligion to be religion and religion to be irreligion, under the spell of illusion and DARKNESS, and strives always in the wrong direction, O Pärtha, is in the mode of DARKNESS.

And that determination which cannot go beyond dreaming, fearfulness, lamentation, moroseness and illusion—such unintelligent determination, O son of PÃ¥thä, is in the mode of DARKNESS.

By the influence of DARKNESS, the conditioned soul forgets his relationship with the Supreme Lord and is overwhelmed by attachment, hatred, pride, ignorance and false identification, the five kinds of illusion that cause material bondage.
They are:
(1) Accepting the body to be the self.
(2) Making sense gratification one’s standard of enjoyment.
(3) Being anxious due to material identification.
(4) Lamenting.
(5) Thinking that there is anything beyond the Absolute Truth.
And five kinds of miserable conditions, namely:
(1) DARKNESS(ignorance)
(2) material conception
(3)attachment
(4)hatred and
(5)absorption in material consciousness.
