I was too afraid to tell their friend that I liked him, so I lied and said I didn't, but then regretted it, after I found out they were only asking because he liked me! So I would go ahead and tell this guy the truth, that you were just nervous of telling his friend, and you really do like him. Otherwise 10 years from now, you'll still think about it and wonder. Just tell him how you honestly feel. You made a small mistake don't worry about it just try and fix it by talking deep. Skip the small talk.

maybe, just mention the incident in passing and if he says something about it, then say that you liked him. it doesn't have to be a focal point of the conversation unless he wants to talk about what you typed in.
