Im 15 years old and my dad and I just joined gold's gym. My parents are divorced, they've been divorced for probably about 9 years now.My mom has gained a tremendous amount of weight over the years and it REALLY concerns me. I know kids shouldn't worry about there parents, but i am. My mom got a 7 day free pass to Gold's Gym and i think she may want to use it. I went to Gold's Gym today and worked out and she came with me. But she didn't work out and she didn't use it. She just sat there and waited for me. Is there ANYTHING i can do to help her want to exercise with me?? My dad and my uncle told me to give her time. Any advice?? Advide greatly appreciated.

Tell your mother how you feel. if she knows your worried about her weight that might give her the determination to lose some of it. Parents care what there kids say and im sure your mom will care just tell her how you feel

Golds Gym may not be the best place to start. The ones by my house are used mostly be guys and nearly everyone is already in shape. There are some fitness clubs will make her feel more comfortable, ones that are for women only like Curves. I'm sure it was not easy for her to go to the gym and just wait. Perhaps start by going for walks together. Maybe advance to bike rides. If you can find an activity that she is comfortable with and that you two can do together, you could really make a positive impact. Good luck : )

depending on how large she is, working out at a gym may be to intimidating or embarrassing. why not start walking together? it's better for her to start simple and work her way up. maybe turn on the stereo and dance in the living room. make it something fun. try not to make her think that you're embarrassed of her or that you have made it your personal mission to make her lose weight. there's probably more to this than meets the eye too. let her set the pace but be sure to encourage her.

It must be hard for her to start with the exercising thing, especially after years of gaining weight. You should encourage her a little more.

Lookup videos, books, even TV shows on Discovery Heath about weight gain. Show her it can really hurt her. She can even die! If that doesn't convice her, nothing will. Good Luck
