I would turn the first switch on and leave it on long enough for the blub to warm, then turn it off. Next I would turn on switch 2 and proceed upstairs. If I found the blub on switch number two would be the correct one. If the blub was warm switch number one would be the correct. If the blub was both off and cold, it would have to be controlled by switch number three.

get another person. they go down stairs. they switch the switches one at a time, and record it. you record what turns on upstairs and when. then they walk upstairs and you can compare data.you don't even need to go down or up the stairs yourself at all. Or, unplug the lights and have the neighbor's 3 kids keep their fingers in the light sockets and turn them on one at a time. be sure to listen for screams
no no no, thats not it................this is it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*************************************
You switch on the first switch, wait ten minutes then switch it off. Then you switch on the second switch and go upstairs.
If the light is on, the second switch is the correct one.
If the light is off and the bulb is hot, it's the first switch.
If the light is off and the bulb is cold, it's the last switch.
Bamn! how's about 10 points !??!

Turn all the switches where you cant see the lights off ( in the down position). Go to the set of switches where you can see the lights coming on and off and start turning them on and off. Try to remember which switch control what light and label them. then go the other set of switches and do the same thing.

One person upstairs, relays the information to the other person who is downstais, flicking the switches. The person downstairs, only has to come upstais once, when the job is done.
