It didn't start happening until I restarted my computer after installing the upgrades. What is up with this and how do I stop it?

I believe Zone Alarm has an option to either make a sound or not make a sound when an intruder tries to penetrate the firewall.

In IE7
Tools > Pop up blocker > pop up blocker settings > uncheck box "play a sound when a pop up is blocked"

Is really hard to answer that question. You don't mention what kind of PC you have. Laptop? Desktop? What windows version? What kind of upgrades you did? With the kind of data you provided I just recommend that you run the windows System Restore utility and restore the PC as it was before the upgrades. Then you can try to upgrade again if you want. But next time upgrade one program at time.

For example, before upgrade, create a restore point using the System Restore utility, then upgrade IE7 and restart. If everything is OK, repeat the process again but with the new program... Create a restore point, upgrade ZoneAlarm and restart. That way you'll now what upgrade is giving you the problem.

Good luck!
