I am 22 years old and have an issue with my right eye. The only option is a contact for just that eye. I went to the eye doctor and they successfully put it in for me and took it out. They put in another one and it was my job to get it out-- I CANT DO IT. I know how... pinching it out or sliding it down and then pulling... but I am psyching myself out. I got my husband to get it out, thinking I could put it in, then get it out. I can't even get it in. I guess it's the pressure of the eye doctor and everyone looking at you. But you can't take them home until you prove that you can get it in once and out once..I guess it's a liability issue. Anyway, I've seen everyone demonstrate HOW... but I guess I need advice on getting near my eye. The problem isn't HOW I hold my eye... I just seem to be really, really nervous. Like my hand wants to pull away when I try! Do you have any advice? I feel soooo silly. I want clear vision so bad!

I went through the same thing! I know...its so weird because you want to so badly, but it also feels like physically impossible with everyone watching and I felt like I was going to poke my eye out. Ofcourse the whole thought of touching my eye alone was a prob too because the thought just grosses me out! Anyways...after a year of doing my contacts I can finally touch my eye now. To put them in I look up, put it in right when I go to look down, move my eye in the motion they told me to, and then its in! Woo-la!
I wish you all the luck in the world! Goo Luck! :)

Haha, yea, I had the same kind of problem too. I got mine way younger though; 12. The thought of touching my eye made it itch and feel like there was somthing in it, so I felt nervouse. What I did to stop psyching myself out was I told myself to handle it like taking a pill or downing some cough syrup. Just do it. I opened my eye with one hand and quickly pinched it out with the other. Soon I got the hang of it, and now it's much easier. I hope you get your contacts in soon :-) PS: My dad had my mom put in his contacts for him for two years!

It is so much easier if the contact lense is nice and moist - try welling up a few fake tears first, that may help. When mine are dry they stick to my eye a bit. It seriously took me months to get the hang of getting them in and out, but once you've mastered it, its a breeze

The first day i had them, it took me 45 minutes to succesfully put ONE in. I hold my bottom lid down with my right middle finger and the top lid with the left hand index finger. The contact should be on your right index finger. Make sure your hands aren't wet and the contact is. Make sure to rinse the contact when you take it out of the case. Hope this helps

Try teaching yourself to touch your eyeball before you try to put in/take out the lens. Wash your hands, then take your index finger and touch the white part of your eye (not the iris or pupil! this will typically cause discomfort) Once you can get used to getting that close to and touching your eyes, you should be fine. You shouldn't flinch after that.

I personally never had an issue with getting my contacts in or out. Is there something specific that is concerning you? Are you worried about pain, germs, a creepy slimy feeling? If you can figure out what's causing you to be squemish, you can address it better

Good luck.

practice at home, not with contacts, but making the motion, and relax, take deep breaths, you have had them in, you know they won't hurt, think about being able to see, and chill out, drink a glass of water, and breathe,
I put them in and take them out of my five year old son, and the first two times we had to go to the doctor cause I couldn't get them out, finally I just did it, and now its easy.
you can do it.

Well, I think that you are just extremely nervous and need to relax a little bit. Stop, freaking out so much and perhaps you'll do better then.

Oh, everyone goes through this. I did with mine and I was with my husband when he first got his contacts. Just keep trying. Don't stress yourself that will just make you panic. Just take your time. It will happen

umm, well what wrong with wearing glasses. They will look so great on you if you get the right color and frame you know. and if its only the right eye, then thats less money cause you'll only have to pay for one lense. you know. go for glasses girl friend!♥
