Fellow bartenders, I know this has happened to you. You make a drink. You know you made it right. You might have even employed the use of a jigger instead of freepouring. The guest complains that the drink isn't strong enough or a server comes back and tells you that their guest says that it isn't strong enough. You offer to make the drink a double but they don't want to have to pay for the extra alcohol. I've resorted to making LITs in 9 oz glasses instead of 14 oz and making cosmos that didn't even fill half the martini glass just to shut these idiots up. Don't be pissed off at me because I made a drink right and you had to pay $6 for it. If you want your drinks to be overly stout and still cheap, stay at home and leave me the hell alone. P.S. This does not apply to all of you out there who make drinks weaker than they are supposed to be.

I ran into this problem ALL the time when I bartended. I would simply remove the drink that was not strong enough, state that I was sorry that it was not up to their strength requirements, and use the jigger in front of them to repour their drink, ensuring that the pour was adequate. When they took the first sip of the "properly" poured drink, they realized that they should have kept their mouths shut because the first drink was a heck of a lot stronger than what they ended up with because they were trying to get something for nothing. Using this method prevents them from complaining to management because you are not being rude by "fixing" the problem, and if they are regulars, they will never complain again if they want an above average drink.

Some people are cheap. Some people like the strong taste of alcohol....I guess they're worried that if they can't taste it then they're not going to get drunk or buzzed or something. Some people are just complainers and nothing you do will be good enough. I would just follow the law if I were you or the regulations in your bar and make the drinks right. Let them see a manager if they aren't satisfied.

Everyone wants something for free! When it comes to alcohol, get a few drinks in you and it gets hard to tell if there is even alcohol in them any more.
Just remember they came to your bar, you didn't ask them to, and if they don't like the way you mix drinks they don't have to come back! And well if they really want it that strong they can go home and drink straight out of the bottle.

you have to remember that the guest is judging your drink compared to how he thinks it should taste, tell him or her the alch. policy and there is nothing that you can do unless they want a double, i am not a bartender but i sound like one
