How do we know that Jesus has not returned and been locked up in a padded room somewhere for his claims?

The majority of so-called Christians would try to kill him. The clergy would go after him to not upset their cash flow and power. The laity would be against him for saying there is more to do than for a few hours of one day a week look sober.

If someone came out in today's world and said that they were Jesus Christ, the Christians would ensure that he was put in the deepest, darkest mental institution that they could find.

No doubt the animosity would be mutual. Which is why I'm convinced that if there ever really is a "Rapture," He'll be taking the Buddhists. Because they actually try to practice what they preach.

Jesus would never campaign for sin! He would do what Christians do that love Him and obey Him. He would go
to the Homosexuals and Lesbians and let them know what they were doing was offensive to God, but God is offering forgiveness to them if they will repent of the evil they are guilty of in their sexual perversion.
If they repented He would forgive them, if not they would receive the same thing the hypocritical Pharisees and Saducees received - His condemnation.
Your image is very suitable to your question, however I think a jackass would have more sense than you show.
EDIT: I SEE THE INFIDELS ARE READING ME LOUD AND
CLEAR. I WILL NOT WATER DOWN THE SCRIPTURES FOR THOSE WHO ARE WILLINGLY IGNORANT OF TRUTH.
SIN IS SIN AND WILL NEVER BE ANYTHING LESS!

He would probably be on the opposite side of the political spectrum. So they would be just as nice to him as any other hippie liberal.

how do they treat anyone that claims to be a prophet,
they crucify them (figuratively speaking of course)
and call them false.

He will want to hang out with people, who are willing to overcome sin, and overcome the evil one with Him.
so He would not hang out with wilful sinners.
people who hung out with Him picked up their cross to follow Jesus.
what is picking up our cross? - it is to crucify our bodily desires, that is to reject them, and follow our spiritual desire, that is to worship God and obey Him
