Listen to your artist, not people on yahoo answers. He is the professional and its obvious he is a good artist and honest and not just out for money or else he would of just done it. Trust him and wait. I wanted one on my foot and it was going to cost like 40 bucks more to put it there and my artist told me that after a few years feet tats turn to **** and you have to get them touched up every two years, now he could of taken my money and not said anything but any tattoo artist that is that honest with you is good and proud of there work and they are truly in business to give good tats.

That is BS. At 16 (for females), you are adult height (or close), and have already done most of your major shape shifting. Unless you gain about 200lbs, or get it on your stomach and get pregnant, your tattoo will look just the same until you are very, very old (but who cares by then? lol).
I got a tattoo at 16, and it still looks great at 18. Mind you, my weight shifted between then and now, and this tattoo is on my hip of all places. If that didn't destroy it, nothing will.
Your artist was lying to you. You should not go back to him. The last thing you want is a lier to be in control of your perminent body art.

My grandpop had A LOT of tattoos. Most on his arms and legs. He is currently in his early 70's and the tattoos don't look very appealing. It's wrinkly looking.
But that doesn't mean getting a tattoo is bad. What's wrong with that? When you're old who the helll is gonna look at ya and find you attractive anyway? *JOKE*

Yes, it fades and stretches out. I say, if you want a tattoo, get one at atleast 20 or 19. Then your body doesn't really grow much and you will be able to have it for a long time. It will last longer.

Yes tattoos shrink and do odd things if you let them! Tattoo's fade if you don't keep them maintained.
If your worried about any of it then do a Simple design that you can later add onto..
If it's something you really want please do make sure that your comfertable around your Tattoo Artist and do make sure to ask questions before you get anything done :)

I think its true that the tattoo might look different (stretch, shrink, fade) after time but definitely not look like a piece of wadded up gum after a couple years.
I think it also depends on which part of your body it's done.

Wait until you are 18.

I don't think it will be unnoticeable. When you get older it might look older because of the wrinkles but it might fade so much that you could probably never tell the difference since you got the tattoo. Good Luck!

yes it actualy is true. at your age your body is still growing into it's skin so when you get the tattoo it will look fine but when you're done growing into your skin it's going to be all stretched out and nasty. that's what the tattoo artist said to my friend who is 14.

This maybe true in most cases, but it didn't happen to me. I'm now 19 and got a tat on my shoulder blade when I was 16 and it is still the same size and looks as good as when I first got it done. But as with every tat you will have to get it touched up now and then as it will fade.
