how can I get to niagara in new york?

Depends where you are travelling from. The nearest airport with regular airline services is Buffalo NY and from there buses run to Niagara Falls regularly. Toronto ON (Canada) is a bit further away, but again there are hourly bus services, several trains a day, and a shuttle van service that runs direct from Toronto Airport.

If you are driving take I-90 East from Erie, Pa or I-90 west from Syracuse or Albany it is a tollway so be prepared to pay a toll. Either way head to Buffalo, NY then follow interstate signs to Niagara Falls
