This has got to be the worst argument for the Bible. Give me the reason why the Bible says so. Then Christians will probably say because it's the word of God. Or they will say "you obviously know nothing about faith" Where is the reason or logic or is that an abstract thought to Christians?

yes, it is infinitely irritating because they use it when there is no good argument to support their posittion, ans so there can bee no good discussion. I loathe that statement. Then they give you these patronizing smirks like they know everything and they know you are gong to hell and it just is so so soooooooooooo annoying.

so annoying

Even though I am a Christian, this can sometimes get annoying. I love learning about the Christian faith and going deeper into the Bible that when someone just says "the Bible says so" i sometimes ask "where? i want to know where it is!" i'm not doubting the Bible i just like to know refrences for future reasons.

if you don't believe in God or the bible why are you even worried about what other Christians are saying, why are you even looking in the bible, stop worrying about things and characters you think are imaginary. otherwise be prepared to hear that you fear what could be the truth. and alot people say the bible has been edited and new things put in it I have read many version of the bible and they don't add a thing they only put the words in a different dialogged so its easier to understand but they all say the same damn thing. to me it appears people just pull this crap right from within their a$$

Due to the fact that these
Christians use the Protestant Old Testament which is lacking 7 entire books 2 (Tobias, Judith, Wisdom, Ecclesiasticus/Sirach, Baruch, I Maccabees, and II Maccabees), 3 chapters of Daniel and 6 chapters of Esther may be one of the reasons they ask catholics so many questions.

For the Sola Scriptura this is too bad .
In the 16th c., Luther removed those books from the canon that lent support to orthodox doctrine, relegating them to an appendix. Removed in this way were books that supported such things as:

prayers for the dead (Tobit 12:12; 2 Maccabees 12:39-45),

Purgatory (Wisdom 3:1-7),

intercession of dead saints (2 Maccabees 15:14),

and intercession of angels as intermediaries (Tobit 12:12-15).

The lesson, though, is this: relying on the "Bible alone" is a bad idea; we are not to rely solely on Sacred Scripture to understand Christ's message. While Scripture is "given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16-17), it is not sufficient for reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness. It is the Church that is the "pillar and ground of Truth" (1 Timothy 3:15)! Jesus did not come to write a book; He came to redeem us, and He founded a Sacramental Church through His apostles to show us the way. It is to them, to the Church Fathers, to the Sacred Deposit of Faith, to the living Church that is guided by the Holy Spirit, and to Scripture that we must prayerfully look.

A very good website for Bible critics is: http://www.apologetics.org/
Here you won't find any "because the Bible says so" arguments. Check it out. You may be surprised how much actual evidence exists in favor of Christianity!

That's the point. It's based on faith and has no basis in science or logic. If it bothers you then just ignore them. Arguing with a person about whether something makes sense that is based on faith is as constructive as trying to herd cats.

If it irritates you now, it will really get to you at the great white throne judgment..

Rev 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Absolutely! Considering the Bible was written by man and has been edited to support different religions. Christians follow what the head of their religion or church, that is why they are 'sheep'.

Stop trying to label Christians as people who know nothing, you've obviously been asking the wrong people for your advice. We say "the bible says so" because we understand it and i'm guessing you don't. Do some research or ask a minister to get a better understanding.

It irritates me (as a Catholic) when people fire out a Bible verse out of context.
The Bible is Truth, and, when taken in full context, is irrefutable.
