My dad says I should work out everyday to be strong. Is he right?!?!
Keep in mind he is not talking about hardcore gym workouts, he means just basic exercises. Like pushups, crunches, dumbbell reps for various muscles; nothing that would count as extremely tiring exercises.

P.S.
I am really skinny, you'de consider me underweight. I am not trying to lose weight, I actually hope to gain some because muscle weighs a lot.

To get the best results, alternate your exercises so that you do one type on one day, the other type the next. For example, do your aerobics and cardio exercises on one day, and your strength training and muscle building exercises on the next. That way, your muscles have a chance to repair and build during the "off" day.

At least 3 times a week.

every other day working out one muscle group is enough - muscles build and recover after working out.
if you want to gain muscle you should do heavy weights and a few reps (challenge your muscles) and you can drink a protein shake wright after working out - it repairs muscle.

with that work out you will become very "fit"( look good) your overall strongness will be good, but not as if you were power lifting, some pro proformers only do that, so its up to you.
