You can incorporate real pain into your dreams.

I once dreamed that I was in a lot of pain and I was miscarrying. The pain woke me up. I was, in fact, miscarrying.

I've had dreams about being cold, when I woke up I realized I had kicked the covers off in the night and I was actually cold.

Dreams can increase your heart rate, but I don't know if what you dream can _cause_ pain.

Like some of the others who have responded, I would say that pain in a dream is most often because of a real pain you're feeling.

Cramps of various kinds (stomach, leg, etc) are notorious invaders of dreams. Animals biting me in dreams are usually muscle cramps, and headaches appear as automobile accidents.

Sometimes I've fallen asleep in an awkward position so that my arm will itself go to sleep (go numb) and this usually appears in my dream as my arm encased in ice...very uncomfortable.

clowns are evil, I know that much! Feeling pain in your dream is natural especially if your really in tune with yourself, just like taste and smell as well!

This sounds weird and perhaps you should see a good therapist. Nobody should feel physical pain during sleep unless there is a previous underlying condition.

Yes, and its normal. I have pain and pleasurable feelings in my dreams almost every night, like orgasms etc.
